Yeah, looks like I'll be hanging on to my 4th Gen for a little longer then. Having a mk7 Golf R really makes me realize how dated the 4Runner is getting, so I'll be happy to see the 6th Gen updates. Simple things like a decent infotainment system would be nice, but hopefully they don't go too far with it and keep it functional still.

For those of us who off-road, having the radar controlled cruise control might be a bad idea since alignments become more expensive with those.

Well there is some truth in this statement. I buy vehicles for off road for the motor and drivetrain: period! Everything else is just fluff that can and will fail. This is also why I buy Toyota’s, especially those made in Japan. Reliability, durability and ruggedness are all I care about. That said I wish they offered the 4Runner with a solid front axle as well and I really don’t care for anti-lock brakes either! I really feel the main reason people buy them is because they truly are a throwback of sorts!

Think about it, what other T4R trim level has real leather? That would be the limited.

Why would they add the real leather? Perhaps Heated and Cooled seats?

If there is a 2020 MGM Pro offered with push button start, heated and cooled seats, and a few other bells and whistles (Like new tranny with 6spd or 8spd) my SR5 is getting traded in.

Now the next question is why list no transmission specs on the vehicle info stand at the show?

Yep, all valid questions. I talked to the "product specialist" for a while until my wife said stop, she looks like shes about to cry as I was correcting most things she was saying lol.

The only problem with real leather is that it isn’t gonna hold up as well as the softex. The softex is much more durable for an off road rig that’s gonna see dirt and sand on the seats. We take our 4Runner out on the beach a lot in the summer and end up with a lot of sand inside the vehicle. With the softex, it’s just a quick vacuum with the shop vac and a wipe down with a damp cloth and they are as good as new. With the perforated leather, those holes are gonna full up with sand really quickly.

Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but I think it's interesting that there is no transmission mentioned... Toyota usually groups that information together when they want to release it, even if it's carryover.

A 6spd auto would have me in line with money in my hand, regardless of CarPlay TSS-P or anything else. The transmission is the only thing I don't love about the 4R.

Good points. The only reason I can see the front seats being leather is because they'd be perforated for ventilation.

Lack of transmission info definitely makes me think they bumped it up to a 6pd (Prados with the 4.0 are mated to a 6spd since 2015)

Also, love to see it has a TRD PRO dual exhaust. Maybe they did massage the power plant a bit.

Those rocks are completely scaleable, but you might have better luck repelling from the ceiling with a little mission impossible music. Just sayin...

Set the Camera to Rapid Burst. You might only get a few seconds before you get tackled, and we need as many pictures as humanly possible.

Let's also take into account all it says for the engine itself is 4.0 V6 - maybe we're getting a 1GR-FKS with a new tranny?! But honestly we would have to have someone take a picture of the signs Toyota put up for the other vehicles to see if they were more detailed than that for all but the 4Runner.

After June 1st, when I have time and all my future career obligations & work stuff is done, I will be bringing out new stuff. Two of them you can see the names of in my build thread, other not yet. One I am still on the fence about, but it addresses one of the larger "wants". Other stuff I will post a poll about to see if folks want, and update some research that I have done. I don't want to be placing large orders for supplies before that and have 5000 plus connectors that are useless.

My guess is that even if Toyota updates the 20's in large ways there will be large amounts of electrical similarities to play with.

Besides, I am sure we are all going to nit-pick the 20's and modify them anyways. Heck, even if I do trade it in, I give myself a month max before I am adding something or tracing wires (yeah, I know its a problem lol).

Haha, my wife and I tried to climb the fence at the back of the vehicle to see if we could see in, but it was still too high. We're back home in KC now, but overall thought the Toyota display was lacking compared to years prior.

I predict no 6th gen for at least 3 more years. Also basing on new Supra (...ahem! BMW Z4...) stunt nothing will surprise me, even Asian market Fortuner as next gen 4 Runner.

Or they want to keep the rest of the info under wraps to make sure they can get the rest of their 2019 stock sold before they announce a 2020. Too big of an announcement with at least 7 months before the release of the new MY would possible stymie 2019 sales too drastically, if there are any power train changes.

IIRC I saw a member that broke their center vent installing an aftermarket unit. They don't sell replacement vents so a new unit of the 2016 variety is $1300. If you check out Lawndart's old build, he posts how much used units are and those are the ones that you can easily find. It'll probably be a few years before the 2020s make it to the bone yard with the units intact...
