Good grief can we get back to the topic at hand now that we've sufficiently measured everybody's dicks?
My wife drives a 2018 Pilot with Apple Carplay. I tried it many times but much prefer to use Waze on a smart phone mounted on a Proclips (much better position, easier to see details on map and easier to use the infotainment for other functions when you don’t use CarPlay). For me....CarPlay adds nothing desirable to a vehicle. The larger screen might be nice though...

Only one of us keeps mentioning it and it's certainly NOT me. Still trying not to judge but it is getting a little creepy.
That's not unique to BMW. To quote Carfax about all cars in general, "According to current depreciation rates, the value of a new vehicle can drop by more than 20 percent after the first 12 months of ownership. Then, for the next four years, you can expect your car to lose roughly 10 percent of its value annually. This means that a new car can be worth as little as 40 percent of its original purchase price after five years."
To at least tie this back into 4runners. They do hold their value better than the average car. But, everyone loves to mod their 4runners. They never get all that money back out of them. It's done out of enjoyment and that's ok.
Yeah I hear you that most do depreciate. But it's literally a factor of 2 more for the bad cars. But it really adds up fast for some cars, such that you take a $50k runner and a $50k Audi, and after 10 years one is worth $8k and the other $18k. And if the platform stays roughly the same, a lot of mods transfer.
Look I learned my lesson back in the day. My Audi A4 was a miserable wreck of a car to have in college. I drove through a snowstorm with no power steering and lived my first year in LA with a taped up window lol. Life has been good to me since, but I'll never get a BMW or a Supra, until they either go dual injection to or electric. And what I fear most about the 6th gen or even a 2020 refreshed 5th gen is they'll add some unnecesary tech that will trend the 4Runner into a "lasts ten good years" car instead of a "lasts twenty good years" car. Because it was one of the last of those good ole cars left.
People are already stressing whether TSS will be removable if they add an aftermarket feont bumper that blocks the radar.
