Yes, I hate it. Doesn’t dim and is waaay too bright.

Yep.. with the unfortunate feature of a 200 lumen blue non-dimable spotlight attached to it. Definitely not something I would spec in if I had ordered my truck.

Haven’t been on this forum in years since I decided not to buy a 4Runner back in 2015. Well the 2020 has me looking again. Drove a TRD ORP today. Nice. No KDDS which I think I’ll want. Looking at the Toyota inventory site I only see ORP with KDDS and a moonroof in Red. Does that make any sense at all?

So my plan now is not to go with the heritage grille but have the Red Cross bar painted black when I do my valences- that just leaves the chrome stash- first off am I correct in that the older models didn’t have that? If so why now toyota?!
But in any event, is there any option to replace that section of the upper grill with standard mesh while preserving the original toyota logo? Or is my only option to dip/paint the chrome “wings”/stash?

I don't believe this is correct. That part only works with the heritage grill. He wants to keep the toyota emblem and that mesh would not be cut to accommodate that.

Yeah I believe bojack is right, it wouldn’t leave room for the toyota thing. Ok decisions decisions. Doesn’t seem like changing to the heritage you would have to mess with the TSS portion at all correct?

The 2020 heritage grille doesn't mess with the TSS but unfortunately, based on what I'm reading on the forum, it's not yet available through any aftermarket vendors. On top of that the OEM parts are currently on backorder. You could buy a 2014-2019 aftermarket one and Dremel out the area for the TSS sensor.
Heritage grille aside, what about posting a classified to buy the upper grille off someones 2014-2019 heritage swap? So many people have done the swap that there are probably quite a few collecting dust in people's garages. You could probably score one pretty cheap.

The problem is that the upper grille’s upper bracket is shorter on the 2019s. This is the main reason the after market options don’t work. You could buy (1) OEM upper grille 2020 TRD pro - $200? and (1) Chinese special kit - $130, dremmel the cover piece to fit around the TSS sensor, and call it a day. Then post a [FS] for sale with the upper grille that came with the aftermarket kit.
Regarding backorders, how long has anyone actually waited? I waited 3 weeks for my back ordered 2020 oem heritage grille parts.
My wait time was a mere 11 days from ordering the OEM parts and having them arrive at my house. This was during Christmas and New Years as well.
McGeorge Toyota only took 7 days to ship the parts; despite receiving the email after purchase saying they were on national back order. After shipping, it only took 3-4 days for them to arrive. They were packaged very good as well.

Think my thinking has changed to maybe going with the heritage after all. Just want to thank Snowpeak, all your replies and posts on grill topic in this thread and others gives me a really clear understanding of the issues vis a vie the changes to 2020 and where to snag the new parts. Cheers man!
