Volvo's 2020 Goal
Volvo's goal is "nobody should die or be seriously injured in a new Volvo by the year 2020."
I think they severely underestimate the prevalence of Darwin-worthy stupid.

6th Gen Wish List:
1. Aluminum engine blocks with thick enough piston sleeves that can be bored out, and otherwise rebuilt.
2. Better head-to-block fitment with improved head gasket seals, especially for those who want to add forced induction.
3. Wider rear solid axle to allow for a wider track and allow for a better articulation angle.
4. Longer front UCAs and LCAs with stronger ball joints for a wider track and allow for a better articulation angle.
5. Adjustable chassis-mounted rear anti-sway bar w/ quick disconnects.
6. Adjustable front anti-sway bar w/ quick disconnects.
7. Rear TrueTrac LSD with push-button locker...w/all the computerized traction-control systems we currently have.
8. Optional front push-button locker.
9. Bigger wheel wells to allow for larger tire diameters without a lift.
10. 6-piston front brake calipers, 4-piston rear calipers.
11. Optional water 'n mud resistant interior with rubber mats and neoprene seat material.

Ah, someone already posted it. The Dillon........ Yeah baby!! If they could get some kind of exemption on transferring one of those puppies with a T4R, they'd sell everyone they built at or well above MSRP.... regardless of what that might be. :banana:

I thought it might be 90-95% of Highlander and RAV4 buyers will not care 1 lick. If you want hybrids, "bells n whistles", nice ride, etc. you don't buy a 4Runner or FJC. Why else buy a 4Runner or FJ Cruiser but to have superior off-road capability? Sport Utility Vehicle...make it so.:vader:

-Now Smaller!
-No nasty BOF
-FWD for best MPG!
-3cyl GDI (Turbo is only in the Sport models)
-Optional P175/65R16 (24.9" almost 25" tires! WOW!) All Terrian tires, (Factory is P175/60R16 [24.2"] so you know its a big improvement!)
-Whopping 5.3" of Ground Clearance!
-26.4ft Turning Radius for those tight lightly dusted streets
-Now Smaller!

I'll try to keep mine realistic as possible. We have gone rounds about diesel before, so I'll go in a different direction towards power and fuel economy.
First a 6 + gear auto with Toyota reliability.
Second, a new engine. While the one we have now is adequate, I would like more. So either a V8 with active fuel management, direct injection, start/stop, etc. basically whatever it takes to get improved fuel economy OR...
A engine similar to Ford's new 2.7 eco boost 6-cylinder... Iron graphite block, 325hp/375tq... And giving the heavy F-150 18 combined and 23 + in some reported highway mpg. Now those numbers aren't too much higher than what we have now, but I'm pretty sure even with aluminum the F-150 is heavier, and even if mileage was the same that's a huge increase in power and torque.
Everything else seems to be incrementally improving on its own, the power train while reliable seems to be the weakest part of the package.

Honestly, I'd be happy with the following:
- Restyle the limited to look like the TRD OR
- Add 2WD option for dry road highway cruising
- redesign/replace the entune with something which supports android audio
- a 6/7 speed tranny
- retune the sluggish brake pedal feel/lethargic acceleration
- have a beige interior option (if you ever owned a long haired german shepherd you'd understand)
and I'd buy 2 to last me till my dying days.

5th gen only has full time 4wd on the Limited, the other two models can be left in 2wd. Also Beige interior is available on all trims except TRD OR and TRD Pro

My wishes are modest:
1) Bring 2010-2013 Trail trim back
2) Keep 4.0 V6, but add DI (should give it another 20-30 HP and 20-30 foot-pounds of torque)
3) Add 6 speed Auto and possibly 6 speed manual.
IMHO: if above is done, 6th gen 4Runner is good for another decade… LOL.
