2020 ORP KDSS not listed on Monroney but dealer says it’s there

I told him to get a key so we could see the light on the dashboard. New to 4Runner and not sure what to look for underneath.

Told him I was skeptical of KDSS being on the rig but not on the Monroney.

Anyone with experience on this?

^^ agree. No KDSS. The larger KDSS swaybar attaches to the lower control arm.

We got the key and lo and behold: no KDSS light on ignition. Salesguy really wanted to believe all ORPs came with KDSS, but he knows I’m fairly well informed (and have access to knowledgeable T4R colleagues), so he accepted that his vehicle was close but not quite.

At least it was a 2020 ORP in BR and didn’t have a moonroof. So close. Missed it by that much.

Good news is that Japan has approved my wildly exotic unicorn rig (ORP in BR w/KDSS and cargo deck and no moonroof). Just waiting for a VIN.

Not surprised it’s Dolan. A bunch of freaking liars. Look carefully at your contract for add-on’s. All parts sold above list price too.

Curiously the odometer reads 156 miles. Elk Grove Toyota has it now, 143 miles away from Reno. Hmmm...

That would explain why part of the sticker is missing. Dolan pulls this crap where they add a fake Monroney label to the right side to make their overpriced add-on’s look factory.

As others have said, no KDSS and now verified by dash lights.

You can see the traditional sway bar in the upper part of this photo near the horizontal center. There is a thick 'swoopy' metal bar connected to a 'thin' vertical link. That is the traditional sway bar.

I took a quick look under to be sure it had the KDSS parts when i bought my 4R. Specifically the KDSS pump under the drivers side running board attached to the frame.

How long did the dealer tell you it would take (order to delivery)? and did you negotiate price up front?
I'm interested in a white one with KDSS, no moonroof. Not much luck finding one.

Dealer told me it would take between 3-6months to special order.

We have not discussed price yet, nor has he asked for a deposit. He mentioned 4 months at our first meeting. Yesterday he said the configuration has been approved but he didn’t have an ETA.

To me, nothing is real until we have a VIN in hand.

As far as price goes... we’ll have to see. I’m keen to get the configuration I want, and it doesn’t seem to exist anywhere in the US. Maybe that’s because we’re still early in MY2020 and greater variety will make its way to dealer lots later in the MY.

It’s much easier to negotiate when you can walk away from one dealer and do business with another.

The dealer I’m working with is the only one (out of five local) to offer pursuing a special order. All the others played it as if they were helpless victims of whatever the delivery truck dumped on them: they couldn’t sell me what I wanted so I would have to settle for what they had.

Not sure what my negotiating leverage is going to be in this case.

Advice appreciated if someone’s gone through this.
