2020 ORP rock lights with spod help

Long time lurker, this is my first post. I am trying to wire rock lights under the truck. I made my own harness and tested everything. I can turn the lights on and off with the spod touch screen. I am trying to get the lights to turn on and off with the dome light. The wiring has changed from the 2019 and the 2020 models. Diagram shown. I used a crimp tee connection to attach to the wire in the diagram. When the dome light is on I am showing continuity from my connection to a grounded bolt. When the light goes out I lose continuity. The voltage also drops to zero with the light out. I have an spod bantam and it uses triggers to activate the rock lights. The jumper is in the correct position and I have spoken to spod over the phone for help and couldn't resolve the issue. Thanks .

Have you tested function of the Bantam by sending a 12v input signal to trigger the assigned output?

At least this would confirm the spod external control input logic is functioning correctly to turn on the load.

Harness you made is already tested. That just leaves you with the dome light as a trigger.

Yes I cut a small.jumper and went from the negative terminal on the Batman to the trigger terminal. The rock lights turned on and then turned off when I removed the jumper. Spod tech has been very helpful with this but at this point it's beyond our knowledge. I was told that there may be a small amount of current in the wire with the light off. I find it odd that when I connect the wire from the trigger terminal to the tap on the dome light the rock lights come on when I open the door. They will not turn off when I close the door and wait until the dome light goes out. I manually have to turn off the rock lights on the spod. My next move will be to try the wires for the puddle light. From what I have found they changed those wires also.

I would monitor the circuit voltage in real time with a meter to see what is happening. You might need to add a 1k or 10k pull down resistor in there in line before the bantam input.

Might not be the most elegant solution but you could consider getting a small automotive 4 pin relay and have that control the input to the bantam.

Or find something more convenient or reliable to tap from, like your parking lights. I generally stay away from factory fuse panels. If I needed something like that I would have taken it from my headlight circuit and kept all the stuff under the hood, assuming that's where your stuff is located.

I don't know your system in full, but just spit-balling some ideas. This information is worth what you paid for it and expressed without warranty.

I was thing to try a resistor but I have to order them and it will take a while for them to get here. I can't tap the head light circuit because that won't cause the same effect the dome light will. I want to use the dome light so when I unlock the using to fob the rock lights come on and when I lock the car they go off. I do a lot of camping and it would be very useful at night.

Just curious... if you wait long enough, does it ever turn off by by itself after being triggered on by the dome light?

Also, where are you physically "tapping" power from the dome light?

This entire thing seems pretty straight forward and it sounds like you are doing it correctly.

The light never turned off I waited 5 minutes after the dome light goes out. I tapped the yellow wire from the diagram above located in the driver side pillar. It is different from the tutorial but it should be the correct wire.

Figured it out. I couldn't find the wire that I need at the harness. I kept reading continuity and the light wouldn't turn off. I took the mirror apart and found 2 yellow wires going to the puddle light. Then I traced the one I needed inside the door panel and made the connection there. From there I followed the wires from the harness through the sleeve going from the door to the interior behind the kick panel. Next, I ran the wire through the grommet in the firewall to the spod. I had to set the jumper on the spot to POSITIVE. I have tested it 100 or so times and it works. Everything else works fine so far.

I am running into issues using the switchpro 9100. Trigger wire tied into the a-pillar as stated above. Voltage trigger set to low. Read low (usually sub 1v on circuit) when courtesy lights are on. Rock lights sometimes work as expected, often flicker on and off madly. Once went out 20 minutes after locking car and they were still on.

Was wondering if your car was manufactured after August 19 or prior.
