I really hate adaptive cruise. I hate lane assist. I hate all the nannies. Wish I had a 2019, but with the JBL and CarPlay.

I removed the roof rack and the Toyota emblems on the front grill and I shouldn’t have bought a pro? Lol

I think his question is valid. The Pro trim is mostly cosmetic, and you're removing that.
If you're unable/unwilling to even change your own tire, I wouldn't expect that you'll be taking advantage of the upgraded suspension off road.
So why buy a Pro? The only answer is so that you can say "I have a a TRD Pro", and that's fine. Just odd to make it look like a non-pro if the name is what's important to you. Most people like the Pro aesthetics, though the roof rack is up for debate.

Debating the rational for how others spend their money and why they have the aesthetic taste they do is pure insanity.
While I personally think removing Toyota from the heritage grill is dumb and looks terrible, I fully appreciate this guy has a slightly different take on it.

I'm not really trying to start a debate, he can do whatever he like with his truck. It doesn't mean that we can't ask why.
Maybe we can learn if he has a good reason for going this route. Or maybe he will learn that he's doing something he will regret. If literally everyone thought that one of my ideas was stupid, maybe I would rethink my plan.

You're used to driving vehicles with over 500hp, so you buy one of the slowest BOF SUVs on the market and complain about power, then ditch the spare--which weighs about as much as a large dog--to "save weight."

I hate the premature downshifting too. When it drops to 4th in cruise you can often override it by throwing the shifter into manual mode, bumping back to 5th and then putting the shifter back to "D". The cruise will stay engaged and more often than not it will go back to 5th.

Ok so it appears my build is outside the norm since I’m not adding armor, ladders, lift, etc like everyone else. Well I’m not everyone else and I do things the way I want them to be and don’t care what anyone thinks. Now that’s out of the way...I debadge every vehicle I own and either you know what it is or you don’t, doesn’t bother me either way. I like my vehicles to look a certain way, OEM+ if you will and I always aim to make them look as aesthetically streamlined as possible. I was actually going to paint the Toyota grill and emblems body color, but noticed they only had little notches behind them so I removed instead. It looks way cleaner.
Not that I have to explain or justify how I spend my money to random strangers, but maybe this will help. I chose the pro because it has better suspension (which regardless of being on or off road, still performs better), black bumper covers that streamline with my black truck, better wheels/tires, keyless entry w/push button start, better sound system, better cat back exhaust and it holds its value more than any other 4Runner since it’s limited production. For the moron who thinks I bought a pro to say I bought a pro, newsflash buddy 99% of the world has no idea what that even is lol. Oh I just ordered Kustom54 rb6 headlights so does that make it less of a pro too? *

I’ve put 2500 miles on it in the week I've owned it and aside from the lack of power, I really love how comfortable the truck is and how well it rides.

Like I said, do what you want. It's your truck. Glad you are enjoying it.
I do find it funny that you mention resale value in the same breath as you try to justify un-Proing your Pro. Good luck trying to get Pro pricing on re-sale if you debadge the hell out of it and remove everything from the roof rack to the spare tire. The thing about most people is that when they buy a Pro, they want it to look like a Pro. It's like buying a Shelby and removing everything that sets it apart from a run of the mill mustang.
If you really don't care about it being a Pro or not, then you've wasted a bunch of money doing this. That's not an opinion, it's the truth. You could have checked every box on your list for less money. That's why you see people asking questions. Add in the fact that you willfully leave your spare tire at home, and then it just looks like you have no idea what you're doing. You called this a build, but it's the opposite. You're tearing down a nice truck for no practical reason, and bragging about it to people who generally place a high value on practicality.
Anyway, carry on with what makes you happy. You'll probably take this is a personal attack, but it's not. These are the reasons why people are questioning what you're doing. You posted on a discussion forum, and this is the discussion that was prompted. If you don't want "random strangers" making comments, then you're in the wrong place. I don't have to think you're a genius because you removed your spare tire and changed your Pro to look like an SR5.
To each is own what they do to there 4runner. Dealers do want them to be stock when you trade in or you will not get the Pro value. I traded my 2017 White Pro in had it 2 years. Left it stock. Got almost what I paid for it. The dealer sold it within 2 weeks. Moved up to my 2020 Pro. As long as you can put it back like it was you will be ok.

I really like the oem roof rack delete, looks very clean. Can't wait to see what you do with this build, definitely different than most! Every time I see a black 4Runner I get FOMO. Every car I've ever owned has been black, I thought it was time to try a new color. I was so wrong haha.

Bro, welcome to this forum and owning a 4runner. I’m on my 3rd (owned two G wags and an Xterra in the past), they are awesome and in a class of their own. Glad you are annoying it and are excited about it. Do your thing with it and post updates!
And, don’t let some of these people pi$$ on your parade . It’s always the same clowns that don’t know when to stfu and always feel the need to open their holes. Theses a lot of good info here otherwise, just filter the noise out.

Actually this forum is boring and very tame compare to some of the other forums I frequent. Toyota owners can be very sensitive which i suspect is why they tread lite. I would like to see a little more pop corn..lol

It’s bought/bolted on “over landing” doo dads not home made KOH bouncers on Pirate so ya, in that way it’s lame.
