2020 TRD Pro - Remote Connect Challenges?

Hey folks, so I picked up my 2020 TRD Pro back in November and had zero luck initially with the Toyota Remote Connect app that was out at that point (couldn't even get the software to recognize my VIN).

I gave up for a bit figuring I'd give it a shot again coming into the summer when remote starting would be more desirable (since I honestly had little need for it to be enabled).

Anyway, it appears Toyota updated the app software and I was able to get it to register and recognize my vehicle. My new problem is that when I go into the Apps option on my 4Runner, all 3 of them including the Remote Connect Authorization (or whatever it is called) is grayed out.

I did some searching around on the net and found some things saying to make sure a phone was plugged in, try disabling different projection options, and what not. Played around for about 10 minutes with different settings this morning and nothing I did would get those 3 apps to allow me to select them.

I'm thinking I'm missing something stupid and did look in the owners manual for the Infotainment system, but that was quite limited in information also unfortunately.

Anyone with a Pro, Limited or Nightshade have this figured out or know what I'm doing wrong?

Yep, trials are all good to go at this point. I'll see if I can do an Infotainment system update and also turn the car on and lock everything down (I thought I had my doors locked, but may not have to be honest). Will report back later if I have any luck (wife has the car out right now).

Are you sure it came with remote connect? Should be on the window sticker.

It also should remote start via the OEM keyfob if you have it. Press lock 3 times, but hold lock on the third press. Lock, lock, hold lock.

All 2020 Pro’s come with Remote Connect and remote start. The key fob trick may not work, if the truck is not programmed from the dealer properly.

When I first picked up my 2020 Pro, we couldn’t get the remote start to work with the key fob or the remote connect to work. The connect light would flash red and green, alternating, then the light would go off. After the road trip home from the purchasing dealer, I dropped it off to my local Toyota dealer. They tried everything to get the car to connect to the Remote Connect satellite/ servers. Day one was a no go, so I had to bring it back another day. On the second visit, they were able to get Toyota on the phone with the master tech. They found out that some part of the vehicles Remote Connect system was still set up to the port/ in transit setting. The original dealer didn’t change this setting to dealer/ delivered, during the PDI. They changed it to The dealer/ delivered setting, and the car was able to connect to the servers within about 2 hours. It had a voice prompt that came on over the cars speakers and the connect light went to solid green.

Sorry for the long post, but I hope this helps someone.

I have started it remotely with the key fob, so I know it's capable of it. Have not had a chance to play with the system more yet though (busy weekend).

Will try to find a bit of time this week to try some of the suggestions...

Just came across this post as I too am unable to get past the “grayed out” options on my 2020 TRD Pro. Did u ever find a solution.

I actually sat on my butt for a few months early during the pandemic due to not driving the car much, but did manage to do all the software updates (including getting the new Android application) and everything is working great now.

Not sure what the problem was to be honest; it seems like the updated phone application works a lot better than the version that was available the end of 2019 when I got the vehicle.
