Finally the 4Runner gets TSS-P. It has been long over due.
I’m more interested in the new 8” screen with Apple Car Play.

It's super fun when it fails and the car cannot detect the key. Or when your swapping drivers to go in a store and the other person has the keys!
If you check Toyota's Facebook or Instagram posts its filled with people, mostly 20 something's that cant even afford a car but demand more tech. Some posts imply they trade cars because entune isn't any good or that another make has more tech.
I'm tech savvy, I had iPhone at launch and my wife had the first android but in the car I could care less and we drive 600 miles a week each. Reality is people want this tech but they never use it.
this. Why haven't we seen a pic of the new infotainment system yet??
Because Toyota didn't show it in any of the press releases
I didn't read anything about the 4r getting TSS and the updated infotainment, just the Sequoia and Tacoma did I miss something?
Many of us with other vehicles have completely dropped the habit of EVER taking the key out of our pocket or purse. It’s ones of those once you have it you’ll never go back things.
Agree to disagree on this. I had Push Button Start and Smart Entry on my 2016 Honda HR-V (Yes, I should've known better from the start) and HATED it. My first day owning it, I unlocked the car from the passenger side, put my purse in the seat, and walked around to the driver's side and the car had locked itself. Had to have my husband come home from work to let me in my freaking car, because it'd locked everything but my cell phone in it.. and wouldn't sense the key.. sitting inside the vehicle.
When I was searching for the "perfect" car, a keyed ignition was a MUST. I love the simplicity of the 4runner, and even safety sense is a big no-no to me. Again, driving a Honda with Safety Sense, I went to get off the highway but because I didn't turn my turn signal on to get off the highway, it sensed me departing the roadway and jerked me BACK onto the highway.
Give me my archaic 4runner any day![]()
That’s interesting (and unfortunate) that you had that experience. Any modern luxury car we have had won’t allow you to lock the key in the car like that. I don’t believe the current 4Runner does either.
Army Green is pretty cool looking.
I don't get radar cruise. Had it on my Mazda 6 and turned it off. Maybe it's just an Ohio thing, but people here love to go around you on the 4 lane then slow down. With it turned on you end up going 3-10 MPH slower than you want when all you'd need to do is pass the jerk again.
What do all you guys do that need more tech? I get in my vehicle turn on AM radio or stream Tidal from my phone and drive from point A to point B. The only thing I do is turn the volume up or down and answer the occasional phone call. Occasionally use the nav, which is pretty good.

Now for my personal conundrum.
I’m retired Army.
Do I continue the trend of black? (2008, 2012, 2016)
Or do I get a specialty color in 2020?

This forum is littered with posts on how bad Entune isIf you check Toyota's Facebook or Instagram posts its filled with people, mostly 20 something's that cant even afford a car but demand more tech. Some posts imply they trade cars because entune isn't any good or that another make has more tech.

Agreed. It seems the potential problems outweigh the convenience. Not trying to be mean-spirited here... can someone explain the fanatical preoccupation with push button start? Does this feature do something more than just make it so you don’t have to turn a key? What am I missing?
So true!! Lol haha. Millennials complaining not enough tech on the Toyotas but can’t even afford a brand new car. *![]()
You keep the keys/fob in your pocket the whole time, no fumbling with keys. Walk up grab handle and door locks or unlocks, get in push a button to go.
I like my PTS. All manufacturers are slowly going away from traditional keys. Soon the vehicle will just recognize its you.
The term “Millennials” is getting over used a bit. I’m 37, born in in 1982, and am considered a millennial. I believe the “millennial” generation is 82 - 94.
I really hated it at first, but the more I look, the more I love it and it even looks factory... Hell even the splash page shows the unit in a Tacoma.

It stands off the dash, but it really does have an OEM flair to it, and fills the spot pretty nicely.
