It depends. Our Pilot has all the safety stuff and in a city like Houston you almost have to turn it off. They are dangerous at times, especially when someone cuts in front of you too close. But on road trips these features make our bi-annual trip to Colorado so much easier. Like 30% easier. We've taken it to Colorado 5 times in 2 years and I won't make the drive back up there without it.

The order/delivery chain is the same as before. TMS sells the vehicles to distributors (South East Toyota, Gulf States, etc) and they manage how the cars are distributed to dealers. It seems that some are more flexible than others. When I was buying my current 4Runner, there was no point in looking at dealers in Ohio because there literally wasn’t a Trail in the state with KDDS. Their distributor simply decided not to order them.
We had a limit of the number of pros that employees could order until MY19. That has gone away which makes me think that Toyota is mainstreaming the Pro line. By mainstreaming, I mean that they might be coming from Tahara much closer to completed form than in the past. Previously, they were essentially converted completely at port. What that probably means for you, though, is that it won’t be such a pain finding the color you want and maybe some reduction in these dealer markups. Take it with a grain of salt... Just speculation from my side based on the quota dropping out of our ordering system for employee leases.

Sorry if this has been asked. I know I want a 4runner! Does anyone know a cutoff date when I could order a 19? My dealers won't answer me because they just want to sell me a 19. Just on the fence between a 19 or 20. Might sound dumb, I just dont like the looks of the box in the grill for the safety stuff!
I guess. I have had it on my Lexus since 2006. It does feel weird to get a key out sometimes but it's quite frankly not a big feature for me. My girlfriend likes it because she doesn't have to fish around her purse for the key. Overall, I find it a PITA to replace the batteries all the time. What I *would* enjoy is if the car remembered our settings based on our keys. My 2000 BMW did that but my Lexus and the 4Runner (the latter 18 model years newer!) doesn't.
switch batteries all the time? i bought mine in 2015 and i just changed the battery for the first time...

That doesn't sound dumb at all, we all have our reasons for waiting or buying now. I am going back and forth with either buying a 2017/18 used model or waiting for a 2020 TRD Pro. Lots of factors to look at, I hope to have them all sorted out by the time summer rolls around and dealers can take orders. Good luck to you.
In my Limited the key is programmed to the memory seat. I don’t think it’s sets the Entune system though.
This would be one thing that could be improved. I had to go to the dealer to program certain functions of the car. There’s no simple settings menu. In my wife’s 2016 Honda Pilot you can program all sorts of things through the car’s infotainment system and have it linked to the key. Still, that infotainment system is crap and I actually prefer the Entune JBL system in the Limited.

My wife also drives a 2016 Pilot and that infotainment system is absolutely horrible! Thank God it came with ACP or else it would be barely usable. Also, can we get a simple volume knob? A transmission that actually knows what gear to be in? Interior packaging is great though.
Ours does not have Apple Car Play, that makes it even worse. You must have the 2017.

You are correct. We bought a 2017 in April of that year. I paid $1500 for the 100K warranty and am glad we got it. Not because the car is giving us issues, its' been perfect. But we drive 20-25K miles per year and have already hit the 36K OEM warranty just shy of 2 years with it.
I still think the lack of a volume knob was dumb. Interior packaging is fantastic though. Second row is great and third row is big enough to have my wife sit back there as I drive them all to the mountains. The safety stuff really helps as well, but only on long and somewhat empty roads.

My 2017 has automatic lights so I am sure the 2020 will also have them.

Trick question, pros and limited do, but no other trims AFAIK.
I see the same in regards to the dual auto climate control for the 2019 4Runners. The Pro doesn't have it. Only the Limited.

I am not too optimistic about the 2020 Pro getting dual zone.
I solved the wife cooking me problem with telling her not to touch any buttons in the truck

Thanks for the update. I just bought a 2019 TRD Pro because I was tired of waiting for a refresh (or partial refresh). What's funny is all of the misinformation out there when I did my research. Everyone had a different answer why the 4Runner (except Limited) was the only Toyota vehicle without Safety Sense and Push Button Start.
