2020 TRD Pro Updates - Army Green & Push Button Start

I think it is crazy that they are hitting the port in a week, yet, there is still no official information out on Toyota’s website (well for the US).

There isn't really any major redesigns within this MY, I never really expected them to announce anything.

Did anyone else?

They need to get rid of 2019's first.

When I ordered my 2016 Limited they had 3 4runners total in the lot which is why I had to order what I wanted. Looking at the same dealership now they are sitting on 26.

I get wanting to get rid of the 2019’s, but within a few weeks there will be the 2020’s available. If they wanted to get rid of the 19’s they shouldn’t have announced the updates there were back in Feb. Ha.

I know it isn’t a major redesign and a lot will be the same, but, there is still some differences to them and a little bit of uncertainty around what models are getting what. I mean look at the dual climate control, that was never announced and just showed up in the pros.

Also... landing early September. Sooner than we thought - within 2 weeks for the first batch.

That lines up with the email I got from my guy. I missed the first round but have an allocation for round 2 with anticipated delivery 1st week of October.

I wouldn’t expect more than an updated Toyota.com website and maybe a a press release on or after they are released to the dealers.

It’s a bit funny — expecting dealers to provide extensive 2020 model information before the vehicles are actually released. That’s the definition of “release” isn’t it?

Not if they are being built as I am typing this. If they are getting built, and it appears they are, you would expect more detailed information. But then again, I talked to a dealership today that is still trying to push a 2019 on me and he said they are expecting them in about 3 months - which is just bad sales tactics. He knows better.

Being built and being released for sale are two different things.

If Toyota is like most other large companies with extensive product and marketing teams, these dates are known way in advance and the way information is distributed is very deliberate.

It’s a double edged sword, of course. A lack of information means a risk that those downstream will make up their own responses. Like salespeople claiming the 2020s won’t be here anytime soon, so might as well buy a 2019.

It’s a risk on their part — imagine selling a customer a 2019 on that premise and the 2020s are on the lot the next week — but sales is a brutal profession and the short-term benefit of closing a deal can outweigh pooching the customer relationship if you’re at risk of not hitting your quota.

One of the dealers in my area has 6 2019's on the lot and based on their condition they have been there for several months. Car sales are down big time.. Im sure the dealers sitting on a bunch of 2019's dont want the 2020's hitting since it will make the 19's a harder sell

The dealer closest to me is still getting 2019s, which is kind of shocking, they've received 10+ in the past week.

They will put more and more incentives on the 2019's until they are gone. There are plenty of people who will be willing to get a good deal on a 2019 vs. the newer 2020. Happens every year. Nothing new.

I just received a sheet for a 2020 TRD ORP that is scheduled to hit the port on Tuesday. Min adds at the Port - cross bars, chrome exhaust tip, door guards. Should show up at the dealer a few weeks into September.
That guy was honest from the beginning with the dates. The other dealership, connected to the Costco program, was spinning total BS, to your point - they are creating their own responses. That is the game they are playing. Sales tactics taken from a book written in the 80's.

I see you are in Tampa. Any chance they are 2wd?? If so, could be good reason why.

Yup. Just got a 2019 Voodoo Blue TRD Pro for $4K off of MSRP. When have you ever seen that?

Just called a couple of dealers today. One of them has a 2020 TRD PRO in Magnetic Grey allocated. I asked if they will be marked up (ANSWER: YES - ~$5-7000) and he asked if I wanted to put a deposit down to hold it. I told him I am looking for an ORP and he said those will likely not have mark up.

I was wondering, for the people who have them ordered, are you guys getting them at MSRP or at mark up?

Also wondering, since everyone seems to get excited about Army Green, would anyone consider getting the other three color options? I bet Army Green will be selling like hot cakes while Grey, Black and White may sit a little longer.

Usually the people posting here are most excited about the special color hence the title of the thread. The special color is just that... "special" as it is more rare and unique than other colors and limited to the year it was featured. That said, it is just a color so getting anything other than what appeals to you most is silly.

As for Price, I have watched for years and while there is the odd claim of buying a new TRD Pro below MSRP, those are few and far between and super unlikely on the current year model right out of the gate because of extremely high demand. Basically if you paid MSRP for a PRO in current model year, you got a good deal. Don't pay more, just find a dealer that will sell it to you for MSRP. See my post a page or two back about avoiding superlative crap that dealers try to hide in sticker or force on you to pad their profit, say no to anything being offered by the finance guy... just go in with your own financing if at all possible (NFCU if you or family are military has awesome rate lower than Toyota) pay MSRP and get out with your new rig ASAP.

MGM is a cool color and first year it is an option on the pro so that might be popular, but then again it is just Gray so I wouldn't expect people lining up for it like the droves drooling  over green right now.

Good luck and enjoy!!!

Cheers,

JC

Just look at blue_trd_jon on Instagram.

Please stop posting from that website. The dude is an idiot and a thief. Regurgitates info and posts clickbait to make a dollar off of people desperately looking for more info. Literally not a single bit of useful information in any of the articles.
