2020 TRD Pro Updates - Army Green & Push Button Start

I agree. I think the universe was sending a sign...get the 2020!

On a different note, I’ve been monitoring autotrader.com for an SR5 or Limited with the silver interior trim. I should’ve bookmarked it, but I finally found one so I could see what the 8” screen looks like with the silver bezel. It looked better than what was probably a render on the Toyota Canada site.

Are you sure that's the interior of a limited? Seems to be a step back, also doesn't appear to have dual climate control or the digital display.

On the contrary I think the majority in this first batch don't have KDSS. It took me a while to track this vehicle down, and it had to be traded in freight with a dealer in a different state to make it happen.

Colors are the hard part, since I think white and grey seem to be the most popular.

I'm hoping I'm the first to take delivery of a 2020 TRD ORP though, I've been waiting so damn long!

I've been waiting for a very long time as well. Two years to be exact. Back in 2018, I almost purchased a TRD ORP but I wanted to wait and see if they were going to add the safety features in 2019 but they didn't. It's a good thing I held out a little bit after because when they finally announced in back in Feb 2019, I told myself that I would hold out another year. Now that time is near (couple/few more weeks) but it still feels like forever...

You are correct - this is an SR5 Premium, but it does have the silver trim around the new head unit, which was discussed earlier in the thread and is identical to the Limited. Definitely looking forward to seeing more pics of the 2020 across the board though... come on already, Toyota!

That’s the one! I think it looks OK. Better than the render.

The other thing I noticed in the photo: looks like they changed the Smart Key to the black fob (like the previous gen Camry’s). I’m assuming based on the size that it’s not the newer, slightly larger design with the model name on one side (like the current gen Camry).

Definitely different from my 2015’s smart key fob, which is silver. Also possible they made the change after I bought mine, in which case it’s not a 2020 change.

Edited to add: the other thing that’ll drive me nuts: keeping the old fashioned clock on the top of the dash in sync with the clock on the display. The one in the photo is out of sync.

I would think automatic start would be standard given everything else they added since it a common feature on vehicles with proximity keys and push button starts, but who knows. And yes, Army Green and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto are really the only reasons we went with a 2020 over the 2019, but mostly for Army Green.

Price. With that said what would be next best option to consider that I would lift and put different wheels and tires on? TRDOR?
Or
Should I look at 19 TRDP as they may save me several K?

This is entirely personal preference.

If you don't care about CarPlay and TSS-P, snag a good deal on a 2019 if you can find one, but the Summer Clearance promo rates have passed.

If you want those things, wait for a 2020.

Personal choice: If I was getting an ORP, it would be super white.

Get the 2020. I don't care for the TSS-P but the push button start, new larger head unit with CarPlay, and the new screen in the instrument cluster are well worth it.

I don’t know. I’m not so sure it’s worth it. I just picked up a voodoo blue TRD Pro for $44K. If I waited for an army green Pro, I’d have to pay $50K or more. To me, push button start and safety sense has no value. I have those features on my Mazda MX-5 and I don’t really get the excitement of pushing a button over turning a key. The “safety” features and all the beeping is more annoying than anything. Sure, Apple CarPlay is nice but I find the factory NAV to work just fine and it’s not worth a $6k premium to me. Now...if you absolutely must have army green, then go for it. I’m loving the voodoo blue and find the army green very drab and depressing. To each his own.

This is what I am doing exactly. I was looking at getting a 2019 in Jan of this year, then read there were going to be making some upgrades, and have been waiting for a 2020 TRD ORP in Super White. I had a couple of dealers come at me with really good deals on 2019 TRD Pros, but I am set on a 2020 ORP - and I am sold on getting KDSS. So here I wait.
