2020 TRD Pro Updates - Army Green & Push Button Start

Here are some pictures of my new 2020 Pro. I picked it up on Monday. Great drive home. Only 250 miles on the odometer, so I’ll save a review of my impressions for a later date. I’ll have to say that coming from a 2019 BMW X5, it’s been an interesting transition.

So far I absolute love my pro, save for the gas mileage. I will say that the exhaust drone gets annoying quickly on the highway when the rpms are steady in fifth gear. Anyway, enjoy the photos.

Driving I-85 home for ~80 miles, all I could hear was the drone. It's annoying around town on my commute which is mainly suburban in 45mph zones. It's very noticeable.

I agree, it's definitely noticeable. my commute to work is pretty short (6.5 miles) and it's not loud enough for me to be annoyed. But, I can see how on a long road trip or going up a mountain pass, that it would get annoying.

My kids were sitting in the back when we went home from the dealership (45 miles) and there was that constant hum/drone sound when cruising around 65-75mph. I asked if it bothered them and they said no.

The sound reminded me of when my wife and I first started dating and I had a 2000 Civic Si with a Comptech cat-back exhaust. lol

From the driver's seat, I notice it as a sound and strong resonance in the middle of the car to the back quarter of the car in the cabin. You definitely know the exhaust is there. I have no Toyota basis for comparison as my last was an '05 Taco.

The sliding cargo deck is a Factory installed option and cannot be added at port. If you want the sliding deck, you have to order it that way. Once it leaves Japan, it's too late. Unless, you want to go through the hassle and trying to install the sliding deck after you buy it.

When I was tracking/stalking other AG TRDPs to see what options people were getting, you could grab the VIN# to it, and add it to your Toyota Owners app or website login to view the specs. From there, you could see list of port or factory installed options. See screenshot for one I found just now.

Thanks for the correction, my dealer then gave me bad info.

Also, your AG looks awesome, can't wait to pick mine up in 2 days.

I’m really contemplating selling my ‘18 Jeep Rubicon Recon for a ‘19 TRD Pro. I just need something way more comfortable and I don’t want all the tech that is out there nowadays. I just need to decide between Voodoo and white. I love the Army Green, but I don’t want push button start. The only thing I wish the 4R had would be LED headlights.

I bought a Voodoo Blue 19 Pro and love it. It comes with some great LED fogs. I didn’t like the way the halogens looked so yellow next to the nice white fogs. I just swapped out the H11 halogen bulbs for some Morimoto 2stroke 2.0 LED bulbs. Totally plug and play, no dust cap drilling, 15 minute install, $120. The color matches perfectly amd is an improvement over stock.

I bought a Voodoo Blue 19 Pro and love it. It comes with some great LED fogs. I didn’t like the way the halogens looked so yellow next to the nice white fogs. I didn’t take before and after. I just snapped a few quick pics in my garage for you. I like them. We’ll see how long they hold up. They do come with a 3 year warranty though. The light they throw is better than the stock halogens although not significantly better. They do produce a nice white light, which I prefer, and they look a lot better as they match the factory LED fogs.

Why don't you want the push-button start? Heck, that's one of the key reasons I waited for a 2020. Love that feature, miss with on my current truck.

I like that these LED bulbs use the OEM housing and require no drill. Really wished Toyota upgraded the 4runner's headlights to have sequential turn signal and DRL like they did with the 2020 Tacoma. Morimoto is the only aftermarket headlilght that comes closest but because it's still not OEM.

Yeah. I’m a lot older than I look. lol.

Here’s a sound clip from my morning commute. I accelerated from a stop light and got up to maybe 45 or 50. My commute is short and I don’t get on the freeway.

Phone was near my right shoulder (I was holding it up). Windows were up because it was drizzling. Wear headphones and turn the volume up (60% or so). Otherwise, You won’t hear the exhaust/sound.

I agree with this 100%. The Morimoto headlight is pretty slick, but at $1200...ouch...

I'll probably put these bulbs and their matching fog lights in my ORP when it arrives.
