After a little research, you are correct. I declined this "safety" add on. The part can be purchased for under $20 bucks, and the install does not take long, no where near the over 4 hours of labor they charge for it. I told them no front plate bracket, no "safety" light, no Rusty Jones, scotch guard, or other "protection", no financing, no trade-in, no extended warranties, etc. Should be an easy transaction and not take forever (fingers crossed), but dealers will be dealers...

I saw that video as well. He showed the Pro and limited, I am wondering if the TRD ORP has remote start.

You can do remote start via the "Toyota" app. You get a free trial to Toyota's Connected Services; not sure if it's a 3 month or 1 year trial. But it's pretty, cool. You can start up the car from your phone. See screenshot. I know it's not the same as remote start from the key fob. But at least it's something. I believe the fee to renew is $80 a year or $8 a month.
It'll also show you whether you have doors locked/unlocked, open. And you can lock your doors from your phone.
[edit]: TRD Pro does have remote start using the key fob. Just tested it.

I'm pretty sure it does since it's also a push start.
You may have to unlock that feature using Techstream.
My 2013 GS350 had to unlock the remote start and all windows down features from the dealership.
Press "LOCK" "LOCK" and on the 3rd "LOCK" Hold the button down.
You will notice the signal lights will start blinking and it'll take a few seconds before it starts.

Confirmed: TRD Pro has REMOTE start via key fob
Just tested this and it works on a TRD Pro! Lock, Lock, then hold Lock on the 3rd time.
The engine cuts off as soon as you open the door though.

Engine shuts off when you unlock the doors. Same as previous model years with push-button start, which are the Limited's
It would be interesting to know if they take that away if you dont pay the $80 after trial.
That is with any app control remote starter unless its bluietooth with 20ft range.
$80 per year is right in the same price ranges as Drone or Smartstart depending if you want GPS tracking also

I have an opportunity to order a Gray 20 Pro for $500 over invoice. I wont use the Pro to its full potential more than a few times a year but everything else it comes with (android auto, push button start, remote start, etc) are appealing over my 18 Offroad. What say you? Fight the good fight and get the wife on board or stay with my newish 18 Offroad. I'm not into modding my daily's anymore so getting something setup how I want from the showroom floor is appealing. Surprisingly got a strong offer to sell my current 18 for nearly what I paid for it (within $200).
Not gonna mod? Just get a pro then! You won't regret it. Unless you want KDSS for more comfort.

Nope. I have a 2011 Mustang GT that will eat up the modification budget these days. I hate having to thrash to get the daily ready for getting to work or having to pay someone. So for daily drivers I like to keep stock now. Im getting old.

This is kind of the only reason, in my opinion, to get a TRD Pro in any non-special color.
The TRDOR Premium is 90% of the TRD Pro for $5-10k+ less and you even have the option of adding KDSS. The rest of the vehicle you can make "better" for less money.
I'm not one of the people that give TRD Pro owners shit for buying them, it's just my view for my own personal situation, especially in the realm of finances.
But if you just want to drive off the lot with a 4Runner that looks awesome and has very nice suspension so you don't have to deal with changing anything, TRD Pro is totally the way to go if you can swing the additional money.

Yeah I originally was talking to them about a ORP but they offered to order a Pro at $500 over invoice. That was at least enticing enough to get me thinking. Honestly even if I got a ORP it wouldn't get modded outside of blacking out the badges and the Pro grille.
I've said this before but if the TRD Pro had KDSS, it'd be a no brainer for me! In fact I've waited this long because I was hoping it would have it this year, but alas, I was wrong. So ORP it is for me. But could you imagine an AG TRDP with KDSS?!
