great ride home ... anyone that said anything negative about the TRD exhaust either has very sensitive hearing or they are just old lol.. exhaust sounds perfect, apple car play update and new info center is perfect ..

so coming from a 2000 XJ to this is a big improvement

Very nice. I'm one who bashed the exhaust a bit, coming from the 2016 the difference was noticable. Plus I'm just old.

That said I'll back up my comments sightly since it's mellowed out in the first few hundred miles and definitely grown on me. I think it sounds about as good as a 6 can sound.

My Pro finally arrived! Now another 2 days for PDI and detailing...

I can totally relate to that feeling an excitement. I requested that the salesman I dealt with take pictures of my vehicle on the carrier as well. It was great when it just showed up and I got pictures out of nowhere! Good luck with it!

age has nothing to do with drone being annoying.

exhausts that sound weak af has nothing to do with our age either.

exhaust sounds perfect? this exhaust sounds like the crappy exhaust on my buddy's corolla.

it was sarcasm since you didn’t catch on... but to each is own.. i thought it wasn’t bad or annoying as people stated, but this is my first 4Runner so i can’t compare.

I said “sounds perfect” imo as far as drone etc. but let’s be real, 4cyl and 6cyl don’t sound great with exhaust regardless.

I'll say it without sarcasm as someone who has driven 2018 and 2020. Everyone has their own opinion and mine happens to be that 4runner is made for many things but turning in a time on the quarter mile is not one of them. When you have a pre 2020 TRD Pro with the same engine and same lack of guts as the 2020 yet Toyota decides to add a new catback bending the pipe around the mudflap (hence creating IMHO a trail snag point) with the only perceivable changes being the aesthetic and the gurgle then many people in many age ranges might view that as silly.

Why change a quiet ride on road trip into a noisy one without adding the power and torque to back that noise up? "Let me floor that pedal to hear the gurgle of the pipes... but wait nothing else is happening?" Some may like that noise and some may not but it serves no purpose other than to make a noise. Some may like the bendy tail pipe and some may not. I don't like either but to each their own. If you are the 1% who want a track ready SUV then I might suggest you go buy a Cherokee Trackhawk then I will come over and enjoy the sound of that revving engine with you as we floor it and we'll audition for the next Fast and Furious together when Shaw and Hobbs drop their Kids off at kindergarten.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the 4Runner computer actually limits torque in 1st and 2nd gear to protect driveline components. Good on the trail (I guess), but definitely not for any racetrack.

If this isn't true I was lied to... but I swear I can feel it, and it's not a traction control thing.

Does it in fact quiet down over use or are people simply getting used to it? Could dealer just swap it out?

I'm just forcing myself to get used to it. For me, I'll swap it out one day, years down the road probably. It is an annoying sound but it's honestly a minor thing in the big picture. All the pros for this SUV easily outshine the cons.

A dealer could swap it out if you pay them. Nobody's gonna do it for free

It hasn't quieted down for me, I've got 950 miles on it.

Does it sound like some amazing V8, absolutely not. But the comment about it "sounding like a Carola" sounds like something my 13 year old nephew would say to sound cool in front of his friends. In fact, it sounds much better than any V6 exhaust I have heard before. But as I said, does it sound AMAZING, absolutely not. Does it bother me or annoy me, absolutely not. Basically I'm neutral to it, not bad and not good it's just there.

Picked this up about 2 weeks. Coming from a 2010 MGM Tacoma TRD Sport. I love it so far. I was concerned about the exhaust. I don’t care for loud trucks and my wife is really sensitive to noise. The dealer let us test drive it before we signed the papers and neither of us were bothered by it. I’ve put about 500 miles on it and there’s times when it can get a little annoying, but nothing major. I can’t even hear it over the radio. Really happy with this and keeping her clean for when I trade it in on the 2030 4Runner TRD Pro.
