I found some used 2021 LED low/high headlights on CL, going to install on 2019. Is there a clever way I can test the headlights w/o installing them? Would be nice to know they work BEFORE I give a few hundred bucks to some stranger.

The wiring pertaining to the LED HI/LO version is marked with *14. Try connecting pin 4 (White/Black) to Gnd, connect pin 2 (Red or Blue) to +12V. Temporarily connect pin 1 (Black) to +12V or no connect, to toggle the high beam on or off.

So, I can get my hands on a 2022 headlight from a local seller.
I have a 2019 ORP, I dont care much about DRL but it would be nice to retain.
Could I just do the connector swap to get the low-beam LED working and just use the halogen high beam bulb on the new 2022 headlight (using the cars existing halogen bulb connector?

You should get the 2020-2021 OEM that are LED low beam and halogen high beam.
Then you just need to swap the connector and it is plug and play - everything works.

If you get the all LED style, you will have to figure out how to get the high beams and DRLs working, and I'm not sure anyone has.

Problem is I dont have my hands on a 2021 LED and halogen headlight.
What is the issue with just putting the stock halogen bulb on the high beam and using the stock wiring that my 4runner has? Only thing I see it will need to do is swap the connector for the low beam to get everything working normally, I mean if I dont care about the LED high beam/DRL. Am I missing something?

Not missing anything if you find connectors! It might be repin ,plug and play ,minus the high beam, as I don't know what female connectors from the truck are on earlier models.
The 2022 headlights have a 3 pin connector(actually 4 ,but only use 3) and it looks to be molded into the headlight housing as far as I can see and is different then non Bi LEDS of 2021 which can be removed.
Maybe it can be removed and replaced with a older 2 pin. I didn't check when I had them out. I don't see identification numbers on the connectors.
I don't know of anybody that has done it yet or who has the connectors to swap but minor wiring changes will have to be done. Where there's a will there is a way as it's just basic switched 12v circuits. Maybe the older connectors can be repinned and fit. Somebody will find out and do it.

2 pin connector to DRL(wired in series ,so pink is only 6 volts)

I just picked up a like-new set on FB marketplace for $300. They're out there if you're willing to wait a few weeks.

Successfully installed the 2022 OEM bi-LED headlamps onto my 2016. I am not utilizing the high beam function of the bi-LED projector and am using the OEM halogen reflector (Nokya hyper yellow bulbs). Best of both worlds IMO.
Really happy with the output of these LED headlamps. Easy mod. 10/10 would recommend.
I am doing the same thing. Getting 2022 OEM LED headlights off of 2022 TRD Pro. I have 2016 limited. Did you just swap the low beam connector and plugged existing 9005 high beam to the 2022 LED housing? Does your halogen high beam and DRL work fine?

2022 connector has 3 pins. What did you do with the 3rd one (blue wire) ?

What’s wrong with the Morimotos? Do you have Gen 1 or Gen 2?
Perhaps the enclosed attachments may help with visualization.

Morimoto is just rebranded Alibaba junk. They have a "great warranty" but it isn't so great when you have to replace the stuff you bought every 1-2 years.
