2021 Trail Special Edition

Do any of the people projecting their feelings onto Pro owners actually own one or know anyone who does? I own one, love it, and could not care less what color car anyone else drives. Anything Toyota does to increase color options across all trim levels is fine by me.

No one does. The amusing ones are people who buy non-special colors and then swap out the suspension. Should have just saved $5k and bought an Off-Road

Trail Special Edition naming I agree is stupid. You already had a Trail model, why confuse people.

I don’t know how much of that is true versus how people like me think that Toyota should offer more if they want to make an “off-road special edition” since they already go through all the trouble of sourcing special shocks and springs.

Especially given how much they charge.

And then how much unscrupulous dealers charge. Come out here to California and I will show you stock TRD pros that sell for $74,999.

Yeah, I don’t understand paying above MSRP. I was able to find one for MSRP easily here in Colorado — just had to wait a while for it. I agree that they could do a little better with the Pro package. A much better roof rack and some recovery points and sliders should be stock, at least. On the other hand, I don’t think I don’t think it’s all that overpriced as is. I figure the upgraded wheels, exhaust, tires and shocks are worth at least $5,500 when you figure in parts, taxes, shipping, and labor (unless you can do it yourself). Above that, you’re getting dual climate control, better audio system, better seats, a better looking exterior design (IMO), and the ease of driving it off the lot with most of what you need, all under a Toyota warranty. Toyota charges a premium for that, sure, but not a ridiculous one, IMO.

I actually like the Cement alot and would be my 1st choice
Toyota knows their customers very well like certain colors more so they come up with ways to sell more cars due to the choice of color it has nothing to due practicality options if you like the color 1st you will buy it with whatever options that is on it, (most buyers)
the wheels look good the dealer by me had a Army Green with the same package that i stop by to look at I was blown away how good it looked but it was not a 4X4 i was surprised but then again

It is not the discontinued Trail model. That model was repackaged as the current TRD Off Road. The new Trail is an SR5 with expanded color options and some accessories — a cooler and roof basket I think.

I mean you get the color but you get all the other exclusive stuff too.

I agree. I think the black fender flares are part of that. I still don't know why the ORP and Pro's did not have this due to the protection they offer for off-roading. The '14+ aesthetics are growing on me however so I think they both look great. I hope the 6th gen is not a dramatic departure looks wise.
 
Can the black fender flares be retrofitted onto the current ORP? Or would you have to look at the aftermarket for that?

I really like those. As I was preparing to buy my 2019 TRDOR, initially I liked the Pro wheels better. But over time the OR wheels have become my favorite style. I'm sure ownership contributes to this bias. They look nice in the gunmetal too. Hard to tell - are yours black in between the spokes? I like that aspect of my 2019's wheels versus the earlier 7-spoke trail wheels that had no black.

They are all gunmetal. No black or silver at all
