2021 Venture excessive RPM's when trying to pass cars

I have a 2021 Venture, when I am on the highway doing 65mph and try to give it a little gas to pass another car it will drop down a gear and the RPM's rev up 3 or 4k like I have punched it to the floor. I do have a sprint booster I run on the lower end at 5. Normally I like the feel of the gas peddle around town with the sprint booster turned on but when I try to pass a car on the highway I get looks like I'm some mad dog trying to race around someone. Is this just a trait of the 4Runner 4.0L and 4 speed tranny or is it from the sprint booster. I have driven many, many vehicles and have never had one kick in so hard on passing unless you floor it.

I experienced the same with the Sprint Booster on anything over green 3/4. Not sure if you meant green 5 or red 5. Red would be more pronounced.

Everyone has their own preferences. I would suggest dialing dialing down the SB. What you described isn't an inherent characteristic of the 4.0 and 5-speed.

Yea, 5 Green. I guess I should just turn it down or off and try it..... The downshift and engine race is disturbing. I guess if that's it I will just turn off before I get on the highway. I do like the sprint booster, I'll try 3 Green and see. Thanks for the response.

I like the Sprint Booster too. I seem to prefer a more subtle setting than most based on those who have shared their settings in previous threads.

So I finally got to try lowering the setting on the sprint booster to 3 Green (I have been driving company truck for weeks) Anyway it worked perfect, still had responsive pedal but did not downshift on highway when trying to pass. Not near as jumpy on take off. Thanks for the info.
