2022 key fob short range *SOLVED*Led lights interfering with key fob signal and range

Both my key fobs are acting strange. When im 100-200 feet away it could take up to 9 presses for it to work. When i’m right near the truck it works perfect, key fobs one month old. Replaced the battery in one and it still does it. Am I missing something here or should I visit the dealer?

My '20 is the same way even with new batteries. Range sucks bad.

Wow, my 2003 tahoe was world better then this one.. i’m blown away if I have to be within 20 ft of it to work… i can walk 2-300 feet away and it will work a few times (sometimes) and then stop working until i’m near it again. This is horrible. Sometimes I forget to lock the truck until im 200-300 feet away in say walmart parking lot.. ive gotta walk back to my truck and be within 20 feet to lock it again? That’s seriously fcked for what I paid for this thing.

So after some digging I found out that people are having issues with their key fob range with other vehicles after they install led lights as it causes interference. Which would make sense because after I installed leds on my map lights, the trouble started happening. I’m thinking about installing stock lights again to see if that’s what’s going on here. Did my maps, dome, and trunk lights today and licence plate and reverse lights last week, so it would be a huge pita.

EDIT: Just confirmed my thoughts.. after disabling my map lights from comming on when unlocking doors or opening them my key fob worked from 4-500 feet away everytime. Led bulbs are the culprit here. If you’re having issues with your key fob range and have leds.. turn them to off position and see if your range extends.

I imagine most cheapo led lights will do it. My map lights are from the site “superbrightleds.com”. I tried my key fob with dome light on and it works fine. The brand leds for my dome light is “diode dynamics”.

I’ve had key fob issues intermittently with and without led bulbs.
Sometimes I had to be almost on top of the vehicle and other times it worked from 100 ft or more.
Superbrightleds sells better bulbs than most….

I’ll update later if anything changes. Right now tho, if I have my maps on, my fob doesnt work until im on top of the truck. Maps off the fob works fine. The led bulb emits rf and it makes our fobs work intermittently.

If anyone wants to read more into this being an issue, just google “ led bulbs affecting key fob” and see that this is indeed a problem with alot of different vehicles.

You are spot on with your observation!

Been pulling my hair out due this issue for last 2 weeks and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why did the remote stopped working. I thought, I accidently changed some settings while playing with Carista. But didn't dawn on me it was damn LED turn signals from LASFIT, until I came across your post. Updated the settings to 'Turn off blinkers during lock/unlock' and the remote start works again. Never knew that LEDs could interfere with the signal from the key fob. Thanks man! Spot on. High quality LEDs have the proper shielding and filtering to prevent this issue.
