$205 Floor Mats? $1,300 Extended Warranty?

I just bought a 2011 LE 4R.

While pricing them, most dealers added a $205 line item for the 4 floor mats. What a joke!

The salesman I bought from offered the mats while doing the paperwork. I was about to decline but he offered them for $94. Seemed like a good deal to me.

I also got the 6 yr/75K mile extended warranty for $500! I just declined it twice until he came down to a price I'd be silly to have passed up.

Just a few FYI's. Sorry if this has been discussed many times but I did UTFSE. I figured this might be helpful for some people.

6yr/75k for $500 is good. That is about the price at some of these dealers that offer them online. My dealer declined to come down from $1,800 for 8yr/100k. So I bought it from another dealer.

I had no idea I could give back the floor mats. they were on the invoice and I just assumed I had to pay for them.

One those dealers also added running boards to the end of the quote for $1500!

I asked if that was a mistake and he said, "That's parts and labor included."

I told him I didn't want the RB and he said, "Well, it comes with the truck."

HAHAHAHA! Needless to say, I told him to get lost!

I think $94 is too much for them myself. My dealer found my 4runner on a boat coming over from Japan. It had the floor mats (I think it was $229). I asked to see what they looked like. He took me out to the lot and showed me a 4runner that had them. They are really chintzy. I told him to keep the mats, take the $229 off the price, and I ordered some Husky Liners which arrived before the 4runner did. I don't think I paid as much for the Husky front, rear, and cargo liner as the OEM mats cost.

The Toyota dealers were by far the worst I've dealt with. And I've purchased 6 cars in the last ten years.

On a more serious note, I have to give my Toyota dealership alot of credit. They are one of the best dealerships I have ever dealt with, bar none! I just bought a Mercedes and I can't say the same for those arrogant bastages:AK47:.

Do you mean the all weather floor mats? Or are there just regular mats these guys are charging you for?

I paid $129 for my all weather floor mats, but I think my dealer made a mistake and accidentally discounted them off. It was weird. I'm waiting for my 4Runner right now, should arrive on the 8th.

Oh, and that's CAD . . . I'm in Canada.

If I remember my mats were $209 for 5 (front, rear, and cargo), I think this is MSRP off toyota.com. They say "Toyota" or "4Runner" or something embroidered in them. Took them out and replaced with Husky Liners right away. But people like to see nice floor mats when they buy the truck from me in 10 years, so $200 is worth it.

Looks like the going price on ebay right now is $89 + $12 shipping. If the dealer came down to around $100, you did OK.

I hate those add-ons and the ensuing argument: "But, sir, the $250 floor mats are only a difference of couple of dollars a month when you finance over 5 years." They don't seem to understand the fact that you don't want the crap they are offering!

Maybe I've just been lucky in the past. But I've never seen such unethical, scummy car salesmen as I've encountered during my 4Runner hunt.

I had three guys send me the spec sheet for 2010 4R's. They put 2011 on the quote and removed 2010 from the sheet itself. The only way I knew was by the VIN.


And one guy quoted me $44K for a 2010 2/ 12K miles on it. :lmao::lmao:
