I'm just wondering if anyone can tell what kind of cam this is. I don't know if the markings mean anything, but all it has is "TAE". It's supposedly super torquey but the guy that gave it to my friend knows nothing about it.
TAE doesn't mean much to me. Take it a machine shop - for a couple bucks they can mike it and make sure everything is in spec, and they can probably tell you the rest of what you need to know too.

If the shop can't tell you Lift, Duration, Duration at .050", and Lobe separation, you don't want that shop doing engine work for you.
If they don't understand what those specs are, how to determine them, or how different cam specs affect an engine's power characteristics, they are not competent.
