22re can't find leak

Ok so I have a new to me 95 4runner, 22re and it leaks like a siv when I am driving it, if it's just sitting overnight not a drop, if it's just idling doesn't leak a drop, but when I get back from a drive there is oil everywhere. I took the timing cover off because near. As I could tell it was coming from the top of the timing cover in between the head and cover so replaced t. Cover gaskets went back on with black oil resistant silicone, replaced oil pump o ring, main seal, oil pan gasket, oil sump gasket. Made sure every bolt was present and torqued, did not replace the dist o ring but it is dry under the dist. It is still pooling oil on top of the water pump, maybe that is from the pulleys flinging oil onto everything, it is definitely coming from the front somewhere, I am about to throw in the towel and take it to someone who knows what the hell is going on with these motors, but any insight into this cluster#@;" would be greatly appreciated, the truck runs great and stays plenty cool just leaks oil like crazy:boom:

When you messed with your timing chain earlier, did you put rtv or sealant under the rubber half circle seal under the valve cover?

Where in colorado are you. If you're local I don't mind helping out if you need a hand.

When you pulled the timing chain cover, did you replace the front main seal? And if you did, did you check the crank pulley for a groove where the seal sits? And if you replaced the seal, did you replace it with an offset seal that doesn't sit in that groove?

I'd take off the radiator and fan so you can see what you're looking at, clean everything up really really well, then drop some UV dye into the oil tank and wait until nightfall and have somebody rev the motor and watch like a hawk to see where it's leaking at. You'll have several minutes before the motor starts to overheat, that should be enough time to spot it.

The last oil leak that kicked my ass turned out to be the giant bolt on top of the oil pump, so look everywhere.

Ok so I am in grand junction colo, I used two tubes of black silicone and yes also on the half moon rubber seal, I have not replaced the distributer o ring and I have not checked the big bolt on the oil pump will do that in a few, wher do you get uv die? :Cry:

2tubes? Maybe that's why you're leaking. Minus the oil pan, you should be able to rebuild a whole 22re using no more than a half tube of sealant.

I did this too

The little bolt under the distributor gear gets too much torque and the cover will crack. This what you have. Two options, buy a new one. (there are 2 different sizes, I believe your's is the bigger one) or have Joe Smuckatelly Tig it back together. No amount of tube goo will help. The aluminum expands and contracts too much for it.

NAPA, Autozone, any parts store.

That would suck if you had a cracked timing cover. Did you clean it and inspect it while you had it off?

Cracked timing cover over a year.

I'm not too worried about mine. Currently swapping my cool stuff from my truck to a 1986 4runner.
