22's maybe?

Okay so i've been talking to my wife and at first i was going to just order new tires for the 4Runner , but i think i've got her talked into getting wheels and tires... if i decided to go with 22s what size tire should i get, and are there any problems with those on a 05 4runner 4x4 (rubbing)

22" is a bit much on a 4Runner IMO but 20"s seem to fit it about perfect since you retain enough of a sidewall to protect the rims a bit.

I would throw those 22"s on. Dont waste your time with the 20"s. I just seen a 4th gen 4R with 22's and they look solid. I dont know if they rub, but you could always lift the 4R a bit. Where I am from you either go big or go home. Go for the 22"s....they look awesome.

Bigger wheels will also hurt those valuable MPGs but I still say go with 20" and have the rubber to protect your wheels and still have decent performance;the larger the rim over stock hurts performance so bigger isn't better.

Also check out your local roads and the conditions of them and decide how much rubber you want protecting your wheel.

Put it this way....if you are looking to turn some heads (even a little bit) go big. If turning heads is not your motive, stay home and stay stock. Why waste money on mods that dont stand out.

RonMAIDEN- if you are concerned about MPG and all that other hodgepodge you might as well get a hybrid =)

Definitely go with 22's I have a 2003 sport with the V8 and I have had 22's on it for 3 years now. I went with 305-40-22 tires and took off my mud flaps. Shouldn't have any problems with rubbing

I am in the northeast so I run 20's in the summer time. As for tire size mine are 265/50/20, these are the closest I could get to the stock tires overall size. This way my speedo was only off by about 2 mph with out changing a thing.
