265/70/r17 did NOT fit stock 3rd gen

I have 265/70-17's on my (currently) stock 2WD suspension with 4WD parts under the truck. They rub a tiny bit at the back of the wheel well after removing part of the inner section of the running board end cap. You can see the spot of darker (clean) plastic where the corner of the tire is located:

If they rub now, they will rub after new suspension. Cut what's needed. Maybe you will need to remove the inner fender liner and deal with the pinch weld. An alignment can/will also help (ask for max spec caster, which will move the wheel forward).

OP... You will have to just trim that area.

i have 99 2wd limited and ran these same tires/wheels from a 2016 4runner.
I only rubbed sharp turn on that passenger side.

Trimmed it out just a bit no issues.

I no longer run this set up, but here is what it looked like.

Today, i fit 265/70/17 new tires on my 4runner 2001 4x4 “no rubbing”

265/70/17 bfgoodrich KO2s on 4runner 2001 4x4, previously removed my front bumper flares and running boards because i didn’t like them but not sure if it would’ve been a problem. Other than that, all stock suspension
