275/70/17 BFG All Terrain

Hey guys,

Looking at upgrading from 265/65/17 street tires to something a little more agressive.

I think I'm locked on to the BFG All Terrains, however I'm unsure of what size. Was thinking 275/70/17 but wasn't sure if there would be to much rubbing so the other option would be 265/70/17.

Would the 275s work? Suspension setup is stock UCAs with XREAS/Daystar 2.5/1.5. No wheel spacers.

i do rub at full lock on the UCA's.
personally I am going to go to 265/70r17s when these tires wear out

I have the same tires in 275/70,, with spacers and slightly more lift. I needed to do a little trimming and move the front wheel-well insert forward to get rid of the rubbing. I was good until I got an alignment 18 months later, and now I rub a bit at full lock in reverse. It's not bad and I don't mind it.
Long story short, you might be ok without spacers, but be prepared to do a little trimming with the 275/70.

I literally just had 275/70R17 BFG T/A KO's put on my 2004 V8 SE yesterday, and I have aftermarket 17x8 wheels with 0mm offset. I think the stock offset is 30mm so it is about the equivalent of having 1.25" spacers. Also, I have the daystar 2.5/1.5 lift.

Now that you know all about my setup... When I got my truck back from the tire shop I was rubbing on the front mudflaps and the fender linings. I pushed the liners forward and pulled off the flaps and only have slight rub at full lock. No big issues. It took me about an hour last night to fix in the dark.

I would suggest spacers or aftermarket wheels with at little more than stock offset. There isn't much room between the tire and upper control arm now and I would imagine that if I had stock wheels without spacers there would be some rubbing on the UCAs.

I haven't been able to flex the suspension and check for more rubbing yet but I don't do much off-roading (yet) so it shouldn't be a problem.

I think you are going to rub on the upper A-arms just below the ball joint. Could cut the sidewall of the tire, so be careful.

I've got Icon 2.5 Coilovers with SPC Performance UCAs with 275/70R17 on FJ Wheels and I rub the wheel well alot. Had to cut alot of the wheel well out to prevent the rubbing
