275/70/17 BFG K02 Flat Spotting?

Hi guys just curious if any of you experience any of this with your BFG K02s. I have a 2017 Toyota 4Runner TRD OR w/ KDSS(3,700kms).
I am having a vibration in my steering wheel around 80-100kmph after vehicle has sat over night(10-12hrs) mostly and even at times when sitting while I'm at work (9hrs).
My drive into work is roughly 15kms distance and roughly 8 of that are highway.
It probably takes 2kms of street driving and 4kms of highway before this vibration seems to slowly stop for the rest of the trip.
My only other concern would be could this be due to the KDSS warming up or something?
Let me know what your guys thoughts are on this given the circumstances.

Tires are the issue. super common with the K02s.. .tons of complaints about them with vibration...

It if only happens after sitting.. consider more pressure.

I get the same thing with my Wildpeaks from time to time. It goes away if I drive faster.

I have not had this problem in the 3 years I had my ko2s. It is probably worse in cold weather and it does not get cold where I live.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am currently running them at roughly 38-39PSI. Should I increase or just deal with it? Front what I have been reading that seems to be soft spot/best pressure.

Are they 38 when cold in the morning?....4 or 5 pound drop in the cold is not uncommon. I gain 4 pounds from the heat here in Hell.....:flamethrwoer2:

No issues here with KO2s. 285/70/17 and running them at 42 psi cold and I've got a 3/2 inch lift with KDSS.

No issues with my KO2's 275/70/17 and KDSS.

Sounds like when the tires warm up from flexing, the vibration goes away. This is not unheard of in the tire world.

damn, I live in the same area... my commute is only 20 KM's per day also. This may be a deal breaker for me since I'm looking at these from Costco which have promo's on these once in awhile.

I had this issue much more so with the stock tires. Since swapping to KO2s (swapped at 800 miles on the odo) I've still had the issue a handful of times... maybe 5 times I've noticed in a little over a year with them. It always goes away after about 2-3 minutes on the highway.

Hummm......The steel belted radial tires should not be developing flat spots. This is a common problem with nylon tires, but not radials. I have not read about any complaints on the Tacoma forums or on the Tire Rack or 101 Tires websites. I have not experienced this problem with my BFG's.



Sometimes a tire may be "out of round" or improperly balanced and this will cause the problem. There could also be a problem with a wheel also not being round.

Every tire flat spots eventually. Most don't in a short period.. It has more to do with heat. Road force balance can help... but not always.

I see a lot of people complaining about Ko2 and shake.... seems to be common.

Each batch of tires is different.. and it depends on where you buy them as to how good they are. The discount shops get the crap ones that are out of round. If you want a really smooth tire.. get Toyos....Heavy... but smooth as silk.

they just take more work to balance and most tire shops are lazy, once you balance they are fine

I just recently had a little bit of a wobble. Turns out the toe on my alignment was off a bit. Fixed it and it drives like normal. I've heard the E-Rated tires have a little better luck than the C-Rated when it comes to sitting there and warming up.

I have been on BFG All and Mud Terrains since the day they came out.......including the set in 275/70/17 on my 4Runner right now.Truck is smooth as glass up to 85. I have never had a failure or trouble balancing regardless of size up to 35's. Goodyear and Cepek were the worst tires for separation and flat spotting for Me.

to lift or not to lift

Hey, 83 mule, nice 4 runner, is it lifted or will the 275-70-17's fit ok with stock height on my 2017 TRD Off Road? The stock bridgestones aren't satisfactory at all..

Bilstein 5100 shocks all around, front set at 2.5'' lift, rear 1.5 Daystars. I think the 275's would fit with no lift but will need the mudflap removed to stop the rub.

I just noticed that my wife's second lug from the outside on her 265s are flat spotting on about every other lug. I've seen that issue on the outside lugs before, but never in this location...we were really good about rotating for the first 40k or so, then I had a lot of stuff going on in my weekends with family and house projects and I missed the next rotation for about 10K...did I ruin these things? She won't be mad if we "have" to upgrade her to 33s haha, but I was hoping we could wait it out as there is still a decent amount of tread depth.

How much pressure are you running?....sounds like too much toe-in or shocks going bad. I would throw them on the back an let them ''wear down'' and check the front end.

I'm running 285/70R17 BFG K02's with no vibration issues...

I hope there are no inherent issues with this tire because I love the look of it and would hate to have to switch them out.
