275-70-18 nitto tg

I've read through just about every post on this forum and I'm not sure I've seen anyone running 275-70-18 tires. I know I'd have to do some kind of lift and trimming. My friend is getting rid of her new nitto terra grapplers she has on her jeep and I can get them cheap.

Anyone have pics or know specifically how much of a lift I'd need?
I have an 07 limited with the stock xreas and stock limited 18s.
Thanks!

Yeah I love the look of webbs truck. I read that post, and have considered the cornfed 3/2 kit, plus wheel spacers to clear uca's. I'm just uncertain if 70s will work without completely reworking wheel wells.
I'm most likely not going to be doing any serious offloading either. Anyway this whole thing is driven by me just wanting some bigger tires and having the option of getting a good deal on a friends.

Thanks for responding.

Yeah I don't know of anyone running the 70's on the 18's. It would be a trial and error gamble which in the end could possibly end up costing you more money than expected. Then there goes the "deal." However the flip side is trying it and if you don't succeed, you can get 275/65 18 and then sell the Nittos at no loss.

I've been looking at this size myself and haven't ran across very many people running them on here. These are true 33" tires and look huge, but good IMO. See T4RVAs thread here.

He was one of the only 4runners on here with 275/70/18s. He only had a Cornfed 3/2 spacer lift and they cleared without any major rubbing. He also goes on to mention that he ran them without wheel spacers as well. It seems he has since downgraded to 275/65/18s due to not wanting to do any trimming to the wheel wells for "minor rubbing."

Also, check out dheeters thread here. He was running this size too but in an even bigger, mud-terrain version with a 3/1.5 Toytec spacer lift.

As klennop mentioned, go ahead and get them if the price is right and you could always make the switch to the 275/65s down the road. And most importantly...post pics if you do!! I'd love to see this size mounted.

I wouldn't recommend it. As klenop said, I went with 275/65/18 and a 3/2 WITH 1.25" spacers and I still was rubbing. I had to do a decent amount of trimming, along with removing the mudflaps. I wouldn't try to talk you out of what I did but I deffinitely wouldn't go any bigger. I also wouldn't want anything taller without regearing.

It is worth mentioning however that the wheel spacers themselves introduced more rubbing on the fender/wheel well. Do you think you would've had the same amount of rubbing without them? As I said, T4RVA said that he couldnt run that size with the wheel spacers due to this and that they cleared without them. If you were to go with a "narrower" 275/70 AT (vs the Duratracs) that would clear the UCAs without the spacers, it would probably have less rubbing??

BTW Bigwebb, your truck looks awesome. Very Nice! :bigok:

I just installed 275/65/18 Duratrac's today with spidertrax and the daystar 2.5/1.5 lift. Only had to take off the front mud flaps and move the front fender liner in a tad....absolutely no rubbing.

I think if you're going to lift the truck and put 32" tires on it you should go with wheel spacers at some point.

I was just curious as to why? Right now I have 3/2 cornfed and 32" tires. I don't have wheel spacers on. I have no rubbing right now, but when I turn the steering wheel all the way, it gets pretty close, maybe an inch.

Its all about preference. Some need them for clearance issues (mainly stocks wheels + 285s and some 275s) and some just want them for the wider stance. Otherwise, I wouldn't say they are "needed." I've seen plenty of them on here without them that look good. Although I could see the wider stance helping with stability by offsetting the increased center of gravity after a lift.

Nice rig 2k5! Good to see more of that tire size around here. They look good with the 3/2 and really fill out the wheel well. I was seriously considering that size but went with the 265/70 as I'm still stock height.

Do you mean its close to the fender/mud flaps or the UCA?

I have that tire size in the KO's. I had added the wheel spacers so it wouldn't rub on the UCA's (and look better). Once I did that I had to remove the mud flaps, move the wheel well liner forward and do some slight trimming on the bottom part of the fender where the tires rubbed while turning.

I installed these after I had a 2.5/1 lift and had no problems. It didn't look right with that lift. I installed the FJ springs and now I have a 3.5/1.5. It looks alot better. IMOP I wouldn'd go less than a 3/2 with these tires.

Please post pics!!!! I would love to see that setup:D Its hard to find people running this size.

So you were running true 33" tires on a 2.5/1 lift with no major rubbing? Awesome, I would've guess that there would have been major rubbing issues at that height.

Here ya go... Just happened to take these today. Another member wanted to see this lift as well.

Here are a couple more. One shows a closeup of the fender trimming.

I'm referring to looks mainly. I don't think it looks right to lift the truck and put aggressive tires on without some spacers.

I'm going to revive this thread, rather than start another one for tire fitment.

I'm eyeing a set of 275/70/18 duratracs to mount up to my stock 18's, with 1.25" spidertrax. It's the limited with air-ride out back, so I'm limited to the 1" levelling kit in the front (which has been done).

I'm okay with having to manipulate the wheel liner, and potentially the corner of the bumper, but am I dreaming if I think I can throw these tires on there without major issues?

I don't suspect this will work with only a 1" leveling kit. I think it looks like the minimum lift these guys had was a 2.5/1.

You could put the daystar 2.5 in your front and then adjust your rear air suspension up like I did, then maybe you could fit it. Or just get 275/65 R18s.
