275/70r17 BFG AT TA/KO with no lift?

I can get a screaming deal on a set of new BFG AT's right now in the 275 size. Diameter says 32.2, and I'm just wondering if I can put this on my stock '04 for a couple weeks until the lift arrives. I also have a set of Spidertrax laying around from my previous 3rd gen if that'll change anything. Thanks!

You'll need a lift.

I have a 3" lift, running 265/70R17 BFGs with 1.25" Spidertrax and I still got a little tire rub. Although, I actually didn't experience any rubbing until after I installed the wheel spacers, and only on the front wells in reverse. You'll probably need to do the same as me and push the front fenderwells forward a bit. You can find the info on how to do that here.

* requires removal of mud flaps and probably minor trimming
† requires trimming and may require body mount chop (click here for details on body mount chop), upper control arms, and/or increased backspacing.

Add 5 to the middle number for 16" wheels, subtract 5 for 18" wheels (265/75R16=265/70R17=265/65R18)

The above assumes you're using stock wheels and no wheel spacers. Aftermarket wheels or wheel spacers will increase rubbing, more trimming will need to be done in order to fit the listed size.

Good find. Those silent armors also run 32.2" OD according to GY, so I guess it's worth a shot for a couple of weeks if you don't mind some rubbing in the interim.

EDIT: from photog's post it looks like he removed the front mudflaps and perhaps did adjust the wheel well liners when he tried to fit the 285s... this was done prior to sizing down to the 275s, after which he still got rub on the stock suspension. Just something to consider.

Thanks guys, so now the question is should I use the Spidertrax? One one hand, I'm not sure if I'll encounter rubbing on the UCA with a wider tire and need to use them... On the other, if I do put them on I'll definitely have rubbing on the bumper and mudflap/fender flare.

i rub on my UCA at full lock with stock rims no wheel spacers. i do have a lift see my sig

if you add the spidertrax, the rubbing will be pretty significant in the front. If you are set on putting these on with no lift, I would advise against adding the spidertrax too.
That being said, I don't think it should be done regardless. They will completely fill the wheel well, and so I would assume it would rub pretty regularly regardless.

Should just buy them and keep them somewhere safe until your lift arrives!

I forgot to mention that the whole reason I'd have to buy these right now is that a friend needs to buy my tires and is offering a good amount for them. She needs them next week or she's going to end up buying a new set, and I'd have to order the BFG's now. I can't just sell her my tires and be sitting on rims.

Hahaha! I wish I could. She's heading out on some big trip in her Tahoe at the end of next week, so it's a pretty hard decision for me.

I can deal with a little rubbing until I get the lift, but if it's not possible to run that size tire stock I guess I just can do it.

If you can, I'd find a way to get you lift right now and just get it done and not have to worry about it.

maybe check and see if there is a cheapo set of used wheels and tires you could use while you wait? might get lucky and find some that are close to free then just store the BFG's until you have a proper lift.

or just sell your tires to someone else when you're ready?

Wow, that's the exact reason I sold my first set of 265/70R17s... The chick was driving a Tahoe to CO from AL and her tires were showing cords.

Could you put her tires on until you get the lift?

edit - You should be able to run em with stock lift if you pull the mud flaps and adjust the fender liners but it's gonna rub a lot.

The bfg a/t has an aggressive sidewall and really knobby on the corners. You will not get the same results as the guy with the much more street tireish gy sas. With that said my bfg at 265/70-17 did not rub at all but they do for most.

Her's are also completely worn out. I wanted to swap them out and use her's but I looked at them and don't want to risk a blowout in the two weeks I'll be driving with them.
