I am in the market for a 4Runner. But I am not sure what engine I would want. I do tow a UTV and other things 1 -2 times a month about 2 hrs away from my home.
I do want a 4th gen 4WD and I know that 4th gen will have 100k + miles.
My questions are...

Is the V8 4wd all the time?

What engine lasts longer?

Now I know that the V8 has a timing belt and needs to be serviced every so often. And the V6 has had head gasket issues (Pre 2006)
I know that the MPG of both is not that great! Nothing is when you hook a trailer up to it lol! So that is not a big concern of mine. I just would like to know what the life expectancy of each motor is.
I owned a 2010 F150 With the 5.4 Triton engine in it. It lasted 113,000 miles then it was JUNK! ( I changed the oil every 3500 miles and was up on all the PM work as well) I do believe that these Toyota motors will last a long time if PM is done regularly.

What UTV? 4 seater side by side? If so get a tundra. 2 seater ok 4 a 4runner.

If it is a 4 seater huge azz narrow side by side u should consider a sequoia or tundra v8.

this is a very common question and many threads have been opened about this.

Both engines last long and are based on how the owner cares for them.
the 2UZ-FE had an engine last 1million miles i believe (maybe more too not sure)/. v8 is awd all the time, and we cant tell you what you need, what weight are you towing?
