285/70/17 Duratrac Wranglers with no lift?

So I ordered my Duratracs finally, got them for a pretty good price ($977) to my door from discount tire with warranty. Wondering if they will fit with spidertrax 1.25 spacers and no lift while waiting on the lift?

I searched but couldnt find anything with my same setup. thanks!

you'll likely have issues with the pinchweld in the front fender and on the valence of the bumper.

I run 265/70/17 and have been considering jumping up to 285s but I didn't want spacers and I didn't think I could fit it. I don't know that you can't though.

Don't the 02 limiteds sit the lowest of the low stock? I run the 99 highlander springs and wasnt convinced I would be able to do it and still have any room to flex.

Not without running like a bastard. And at that point you're doing damage to the tires. Better off waiting until the lift is on.

my 265's just barely rubbed the frame when they were brand new at full lock with fj cruiser rims, but no problems anywhere else (roughly 4.5 backspacing I believe, but dont quote me on that)
the 285's really dont seem like they are that much bigger

so depending on how saggy you're suspension is you may be able to get by just trimming and pounding on the pinch weld a little bit until the lift with limited flexing ability

edit: yeah, scratch that actually. I just walked outside with a tape measure and did some rough measurements. I don't see it happening. I have the tallest stock suspension there is and even with 1.25 spacers I dont see it working without major pounding and trimming. so, just go with the previous suggestions of holding off.

Yeah the runners got 126k on what appears to be the stock suspension and is at full droop front and rear. It's like an inch from bottoming out and does so anytime I hit a bump.

So you guys think ill still rub after the lift?

Well technically if it rubs without a lift it should still rub with the lift. The stock height is the same spot where lifted suspension will run with some compression on it. So if you plan on doing any suspension flex off road then you'll rub regardless.

While you wait for the lift install the tires and finding the rubbing points and start making clearance.

my other runner has 275/75/18"s on it' I may take them off and try them on my older runner to see what it looks like before mounting the new tires

so your little table there is not as accurate as it may seam. not all 285 70 17s are the same exact size they will all very by not only tire manufacture but also tire itself. if you put a 285 70 17 Kevlar MTR next to a 285 70 17 Wrangle silent armor and measure them out to the same preciseness as your table shown, they will be different... and the differences will very greater if you are going between different manufactures. another thing to consider is that the width of the rim will come into play as well.

no to the OP, you will need to hammer over you pinch welds, id suggest removing the plastic splash guard first then hammering them over, then pain it to cover up any bare metal you create with the hammering and the reinstall the splash cover. no i have done this, and ran a 285 70 17 for a long time with no lift, but i have a 97 SR5 with no flares. i only rubbed at full lock and full flex. i wheeled the truck and drove it as a daily driver. it worked fine and i loved the look. im not sure how much lower your truck is, as the 02s sat the lowest and so will have a harder time with clearances. i would not run spacers as it will probably cause more of an issue for you via the increased "arc" the tires will travel while turning. spacers will push your tires further out and that means when you turn your wheels the outside of the tire will be closer to the front bumper and fire wall(respectively) during the turn, and those duratracs have a pretty aggressive sidewall side lug...

read through my build thread it covers the 285 on a stock truck and shows that it works... http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/105400-rescue-runner-build-thread-5.html

incase any of you think i dont really wheel my truck. -this is a trail that should be run with at least 33s and one locker at minimum. this was done before my locker was installed or armor or lift.

That's a great build thread, I remember looking through yours a time or two before, I must have missed the post about running the big tires with no lift. Guess I know what ill be doin next weekend!
