Can you please help me understand the problem a little better.
I have measured forward and aft of the original tire, 265/65R17, with the wheels straight and turned to both extremes and I am finding more clearance available than the one inch larger radius needed for the bigger tire.
I put a 12 inch block under one of the front tires and still have more than 2 inches clearance between the top of the tire and the finder. Note, this car has a huge torsion bar up front so 90% of the body rotation occurs in the rear. The front for the most part stays lined up with the front tires. Therefore, I don't see one of the front struts ever bottoming out except for very extreme situations. I'll take that chance for rubbing at the top in this case.
Also, the new tire section width shows to be 1 inch wider. My measurements shows more than 3/4 inch clearance all around the back side of the original tire. Therefore, It looks to me like all of the struts, steering, swing arm parts should clear the new tire with the additional width.
Please advise what I am overlooking and what is incorrect in my conclusion. I am new at this and trying not to make a mistake.
Thanks.

If you want 33" tire (285/70-R17), you'd need to lift the vehicle at least 2". You'd also requre to do some plastic trimming to the inner fender. 3" lift will minimaze the trimming.
For full 33" (33/12.5-R17 or 305/65-R17) would require 3" lift.
For 34" (305/70-R17) you would need 3" plus at least 1" body lift.
For 35" (315/70-R17) you'd need minimum 3" + 1.5" body lift.
In theory you can fit 33" in 2" lift or 35 in 3.5" lift, but with major trimming of plastic and metal! I don't think you'd want to do it as of this point (2008 vehicle).
Cheapest way for you is spacers. For city driving will be enough. If you plan off-roading much, think of OME or even coilovers.
Suspension travells allot and in extreme can hit the fender. The problem with 4Runners is not that fende is not high enough for larger tires, its that fender is not wide enough.
Wolf said:I mentioned in another post I tried to have 4Wheel parts today install Nitto 285/65R18 Terra Grapplers on 18x9 with 4.5" offset on my 3" revtek lifted '05 4x4 and they said there's no way even with trimming?? How then is it done? I have spacers but they say even if the tires were farther out there isn't enough room in the wheel well.????
AlexJet said:Wheel spacers would not do anything, they will makes things worse as in your case tires will hit the body at full turn. Wheel spacers are need in case of using stock rims to make then within specs of 4.5" backspacing aftermarket.
To fit 33" into 3" lift you'd need to trim some of the inner fender on the front of the fenderwell, approximatelly 5-6" from the bottom not counting the "triangles". You should be fine with that. I had 285/70-R17 on 17x8 and that all trimming I had at that time.
To fit bigger tires then 33", you'd also need to trim fender at the front and rear of the fenderwell and possible modification of the firewall, not counting that you may need to do some mods to the frame as well. So be ready for cut, weld, grind.

Here is the area I was worried about dealing with with the 32.5" tires (285/65/18 Nitto T/Gs). Other than removing the mudflaps (lower arrow) I won't have to do anything to that part of the liner right? (Upper arrow)
