285/75/16 Tires (stock)

I am in need of new tires pretty soon, will a 285/75/16 fit on stock suspension? will i have any rubbing? I am asking these because I'm wanting to lift my 4Runner Down the road very soon but i need tires ASAP but i don't want to have to buy another set of tires afterwards. So i would like to just get the bigger size i want now.

Also if you guys have suggestions on tire brand and whether or not mud terrain or all let me know I'm open to everything. Thanks.

They will fit, but they will rub.

Check out treadwright.com for the tires. They are great. I've run them for two years and they've worn very well. Many others here are running them too. Only negative review that I've heard of is stezemcqeen where they took forever to get him his.

TW are morons, dont buy from them. They'll send you damaged sidewalls and then try and tell you they are fine.

well i wont have a problem with installing them since i work for a Toyota dealership as a mechanic i can do it all myself. along with alignment myself. Look at my signature picture that's on the alignment rack in the shop.

If you want 33's, in theory 255/85/R16's will rub less because they are a be skinnier. I still wouldn't recommend doing it unless you want to deal with rubbing.

That is a kind of 'it depends' question. If your stock suspension is sagging, if your car rolls when you turn, then they will rub more. They shouldn't rub while just driving down the road but in a rare instance I guess they could rub on the UCA. Wheel spacers would fix that. I know from experience you can run 265-75-16 stock without a lift.

Since you work for Toyota can you get some used tires of a truck that comes in for new ones to tide you over until you are ready for the lift?

Well look at it this way. My treadwright 31"so rubbed up front with no lift and turning. With my lift now they sometimes rub under full flex. Those 33s will rub really bad under full flex.

I ran 265/75/16 without lift and rubbed in the front that I had to do some minor trimming.

Then I lifted the fronts with Icon's to about 2" and the rear to 3", and got 285/75/16. I rubbed everytime I turned even with minor trimming and 2" of lift. So I pounded and trimmed further and now its good to the point that I am offroading and will not rub.

So expect to trim the inside parts of your front fenders and lower valance. Also take a sledge hammer and pound the pinch weld.

Thats right i work at a dealership but we don't see many tires that size come believe it or not. but im trying to get some to hold me over.
