285/75/16

Hey everyone

I want to put 285/75/16 on my 2001 4x4 4runner. I am going to lift it 1 inch with the performace product springs. My wheels are 16 x 8 with 4.5 inches of backspacing. Will it fit OK?

That's not enough to not rub with.
'01 and '02 Runners sit an inch lower than the '99-'00 years and those have rubbing issues with even a 2" lift and you'll still need to do a body lift also.

But right now I have stock 265/70/16. 285/75/16 couldnt be that much bigger.

I think those are 33"s and some people with the '01s have rubbing issues with the 265/75s,there's simply not enough room in the wheel wells thus requiring a body lift.

i have a '96 limited and i still have slight rubbing issues with 265/75's so yeah i would say it would still rub even with the lift.

Toyota used coils that have one more "wind" in the '99 and most of the '00 models but the '96-'98 and '01-'02 models sit a little lower and on mine my 265/75s don't rub but that's the biggest size you can fit w/o suspension lift and I'm sure you need the body lifted at least an inch.

yea these guys are right.

you should also know that the pp springs offer 1.75-2" of lift, not the advertised 1".

thats still not enough to fit 285's. youll probably need closer to 3" of lift, 3.5 to comfortably turn on full lock.

with that much lift you need to extend the brake lines, do a panhard drop, etc etc etc.

yes, i run 265/75/16s with pp springs (dont even need to lift at all actually) and they fit juuuuust fine

my 265 75's dont rub but i'm gonna get a 1inch just because they look bigger with a tad bit more space between the fender and tire.

Yes, this thread is pretty old.

So to fit 285/75/16 non '99's need 2.5" of lift or more?

What if you went with a 285/60ish/16?

my 00 with a 3" toytech and 285's have rubbed a few times on a bump at full lock or when backing up. haven t got around to triming them.

i have 285/75s on my runner that size works out to a 33 inch by 11.5. i put a 3 inch lift on and i have some rubbing issues. its nothing major around town. the fronts rub on the plastic wheel well lining somtimes when i turn really sharp, mostly parking lots. but off road i have some rubbing issues in the rear. on supper articulated places the tires in the rear rub the top inside edge of the fender and the rub the back part of the wheel well, the area where the rear mudflaps are. i am thinking of extending my rear bumpstop down an inch or two to fix this problem. hope thishelps

all you have to do is go into the post pics of your 3rd gen thread and youll get tons of pics with diff. setups. No way youre gonna run 285/75's with 1" of lift and actually drive it. Just like some of the other guys, my 3" Revtek rubs at full lock but mainly in reverse Heres the only pic i have on this computer, has a 5x10 trailer and lifted golf cart on the back is why its squatting, sits level unloaded.
