I was wondering if driving with 285-75-16 mud tires would be possible for only a couple of days before I get my lift kit put on? I know they'll rub, but it's a stock 96 4runner and its possible that I'll get the lift by the weekend so I wanted to see if I can drive with the new ones for a couple of days without tearing anything up?

Well you can 'rack' test them first

before dropping the weight on them, turn front wheels all the way to left, turn tires see what happens, turn right and repeat. This will give you an idea where any rubs will occur first so you can avoid those extremes for those couple of days. Then if ok, once down, roll windows down to hear whats going on for a bit, take it Really ez on bumps and such till you get a feel for it. Good luck!

Check my build thread, I just threw some on my '98, no lift. If I stuff the rears they rub the fender lip but lock to lock in the front I'm not having any issues with my 1.25" spacers.

I'm lifted and my 285's rub still on the inside.

I installed mine before lifting it. And had no rubbing issues. But have a bit of rubbing once I did lift it. But when I got the t4r the previous owner had 22s on it and had done some trimming to make them fit. So not sure if that's to do with it or not. I'm sure it has to do with the geometry hanging

You will need to trim so you can turn. Muds will have a lot more tire on them and will catch the from lower part of the bumper when turning. I had to trim with my 3" lift.

Just wondering what would be biggest possible size which will not rub with the stock 16 inch wheels and no modifications on a 97 sr5?
