285’s on pro wheels....

Ive done so much searching my head is spinning. Ordering a pro. Planning on things I want to do with it. Doing a king suspension, prob run 2.5” lift. I personally like the look of the pro wheels. I see some guys are are running 285/70’s on them but technically the rim isnt wide enough I believe? Just wanted to get some info/opinions on that. Im also thinking about selling the stock package and get scs ray 10’s.

285/70 on 7" rims

If you're going to replace the suspension with King shocks and a 2.5" lift, why buy a Pro? Buy an Off Road without KDSS and install the lift. Save a few thousand dollars, right? Skip the KDSS because it's harder to lift and level.
The 285/70R17 are best on an 8.5" wide rim. Look at SDS rims or ICON alloy rims. The Pro comes with 7" rims, I believe.
My 2015 Trail Edition is the same as the 2018 Off Road and it came with 7.5" rims. I got new 8.5" ICON rims when I bought the 285/70R17 Falken AT3W.

Not true on the KINGS + KDSS combo as it's been working fine with me so far..

Although I did have to crank the coilovers a bit more on passenger side to level it out.
 
I have the SCS F5s, quality rims! Beat these things for two years now, love em! Have to agree w [MENTION=115572]DesertCanyons[/MENTION] on buying a Pro, save the money since your going w Kings anyway. Can't comment on KDSS but I doubt you would miss it. Here in Florida the Pro is 5k more. Hell you can have Kings on all 4 corners, new UCAs and an install for less than that. Might even have some left over for some TRD 8.5" aftermarket rims or a TRD intake (still can't believe intake doesnt come with it...that's BS). TRD is mostly appearance pkg. Once you put those Kings under there you won't care that it's not a PRO.

Ive searched around and foubd the same thing. Not idea but will work.

Im pretty much going the same route on my pro. Kings and 295/70 on stock pro wheels. Kings should be here in a week or 2. Ordered them december 13th.....:violin:

Im starting to revisit the idea of a premium. It seems to be about $3500 diff here. BUT thats not counting wheeling and dealing which they won’t do on a pro.

As a Pro owner, I agree with these guys. If you’re gonna swap for kings, you may as well get the Premium. You can add the skid plate and the TRD Grille later. The main advantage of a Pro is 1. The color and 2. The package you get if you’re not wanting to modify, but want something just a bit more outfitted than stock. I bought mine with the intention of not doing much to it, but alas, modding is in my nature. I should have known better after trading in a built Subaru for it. But, I’m still thrilled with my decision. I’ve got a small lift, but it kept most of the components of the stock suspension. So at least the Pro part is keeping me from spending too much money all at once. It’s forcing me to wait till my other parts wear out first, which will take a good while. After that I’ll get Kings or something similar. But I’d consider the ORP before a Pro if you’re gonna mod it right off the bat

Its not a deal breaker but about the only thing I would be missing from the pro after mods would be the black cross bar up front (which I see you can get from one of the members) and the upper grille portion? So if you get the piece that was in the group buy and the upper grille it will basically look like a pro? (The grille portion)

Im planning on doing a c4fab front bumper, skids etc

Also I havent really checked to see what the pro wheels, tires, and shocks are selling for in the used market. “Like new”

Edit: one last thing to weigh in on is how fast I end up modding it. Im a business owner, am moving myself and my business about 40 miles west to a new territory. The 4runner will be coming into the pic about 3mo after all of this goes down. So in all reality I might not even get around to doing any of the mods until 19’. Just solely based on time/life transition. Sooo the pro’s back in the running :) lol

To clarify, that member is offering an aftermarket product (looks like a great product btw) but you can also get the exact Pro grill from Toyota install it yourself - granted its apparently a plastic gift from God based on the prices they want for it. - I would def. look at the aftermarket option hard if I had not already installed the OEM version.

What kind of $ are we talking for a REAL pro set up from yota?
