Alot of people probably know me from YotaTech.

Im from Washington, near seattle, almost 18, go to mountlake terrace high, and drive a 1990 2 door 4runner.
Hopefully by January next year i will be swapping my old worn 22re for a 4.3 CPI Vortec, yeah yeah i know:D

And some pictures, because we ALL love pictures!

Alright time to pic whore it up.

I built the 4runner. Carried out the 4.3 swap, which worked flawlessly. I used a 4" bracket lift and fj80 coils in the rear for the lift, which ended up at about 3" of lift, and ran 36" swampers.
Wheeled and daily drove it like that for a few months and had the time of my life. It ended up in sad shape. Bent the front suspension back(screw bracket lifts), blown rear diff, it would pull apart CVs all the time from being bent, needed both motor mounts, a power steering pump, front diff mounts were broken, and the front end was destroyed from wheeling, and the hood flipping up going 45. I didnt have money to fix the issues, so i traded it.

I traded it for my buddies 85 ext cab pickup with 15k on a rebuilt motor with a 260 grind cam, 4" lift, 4.88 yukon gears and a spool in the rear. I rebuilt the front axle, pulled the 35s and ran some 32 mts, rebuilt the carb, gutted the nasty interior, and fixed all the issues as i got more money.

Wheeled it a bunch. My 2nd trip to naches the timing chain blew. Fixed that with new everything, new oil pump, and a new crank pulley, which was broken and was mosy likely the cause of the chain breaking.

Then after a few incidents, the mint 85 cab saw to dented to care anymore. I grabbed some crappy 33 swampers, cut fenders, and was starting on making my own bumpers when it got totaled.

On december 23rd, friday before xmas eve, i saw someone broken down on my way home from work. I went a couple miles ahead, turned around, went a few miles back. I pulled over and helped him. Not 15 seconds after getting out of my truck a couple mexican kids high on coke hit my truck going 70.
Pushed my truck 6 feet into his truck, when was pushed forwards into us standing in front of it.

The other guy got hit pretty bad and ended up with tons of torn ligaments, broken ribs, etc. I just had some bruised ribs. If i hadnt stopped he very well could have died. My truck was totaled. Got 3200 for it from insurance, and bought another project.

They were going so fast they spun 180 degrees before hitting my bumper, which can opened their car like butter:naughty:

I work at an auto shop, so i bought my truck back for like 200 bucks, and kept it there for a week or two untill i found the perfect truck.

It was an 81 pickup. Flatbed, buggy leafed, 5.71s with an LSD in the rear, a good set of 35s, and a new long block that was installed several years before, but had less than 500 miles on it!

The ad was very vague about the truck. Basically just said "1981 toyota pickup, lifted, needs radiator, has non op title. $1000"

I texted him and said i would be out the next day to look at it, and he sent his address. I took the radiator from my 85, which weeped, but seemed like it would work. I knew the truck was a steal. Turns out the owner had NO CLUE about the truck. He was some tweaker trying to make a quick buck. I bought the truck for $800, and got it running(barely) right there in the apartment complex.
Ended up having to trailer it home about 5 miles from his place due to over heating issues.

I later found out exactly what this truck had, and found paperwork proving the motor was brand new.

I ended up swapping almost everything into the 81 from the totaled 85, and rebuilt the truck from the ground up. Motor, trans, diffs, front axle, and a few other parts were used from my old rig. The 81 was RUST FREE. Completly solid floors boards.

I made it a reliable rig. Wheeled it once, and sold it for 2500, and bought another 4runner. I liked it, but i wanted something that was newer and more comfortable, and fuel injected.

The day i picked it up.

Then after i swapped all the parts.

AI sold the motor from it for 750, the front axle for 250, a few various parts for a couple hundred dollars, and i am still waiting to post the 5.71 diffs for sale.

With that money i moved into my own place.
I needed a daily driver, so i sold the 81 and bought a 1994 4runner for $2500. It came into our shop, and the owner didnt want it because it had a blown headgasket and they just bought a new car. My boss gave them 1200. Another employee bought it for 1300. Found out i didnt have a blown headgasket. Then flipped it to me for 25. I still kick myself for not having the 1300 when i should have!

This rig is bone stock. Fully loaded, 5spd, 3.0, brand new tires. In the past 4 years our shop has receipts adding up to 8 grand in work done on it. It runs great. All it needs is new speakers that arnt blown, an antenna, and a wax. Cant beat that!:biggrin2:

I am glad to be back in the soft ride of IFS and coils. I am keeping it stock for quite a while. But future plans are 33x10.5s, lockers front and rear, and Jeff at badland bumpers is going to build bumpers, sliders, and tube fenders for me.

Nothing over the top. Just a capable rig that i can take up to explore, make it through some tough terrain, and get me to work the next day.

Well that gets you caught up. I cant stay away from a 4runner. I am much more happy this time around. I got tired of the 2 door pretty quick.

That's quite the odyssey. :hatsoff:

Stick around this time, start a build thread in the classics section. After seeing your other builds, I'm intrigued to see where you go with the '94!

I dont spend much time on forums anymore, but i will be sure to keep the thread updated.

When i get the motivation to work on it, i have a set of OME coils to toss in. My buddy who i got them from said they were heavy duty stock height coils. I guess we will know he is wrong if it ends up life a drag car!

I also have a set of manual hubs. They are actually the same first set of hubs that i put on my 2 door 4runner. It got a SAS and i got a bunch of my old parts back from the front end:banana:

I will try to get a picture of how the 4runner sits now. It has a SAS using RUF custom spring packs, high steer, and sits on 33s. He is trying to fix his death wobble issue right now, so it hasnt been wheeled yet.

I miss owning it. But would love to build this 4 door more. I wouldnt SAS it though. I went with a 4runner for soft suspension and 4 doors. So to keep the nice ride, i would have to go with a TC long travel kit.

Spent the weekend at the shop doing some work.

Changed ALL fluids. Greased all fittings. Repacked wheel bearings. Tightened the output flange on the t-case. Put in a new, MUCH more powerful interstate battery(mtp 24) and replaced the terminals. Pulled trim, running boards, fender liners, and mudflaps. Installed manual hubs. And cleaned the hell out of the interior, and scrubbed the stuck brake dust off the wheels.

It still needs a good buffing. And i am deciding on whether to pull the decals or not.

I decided to wait to install coils. These are taller, have more wraps, and are thicker than stock. Enough to the point that a think they are lift springs. Does anyone recognise them? 7.5 wraps, and are about 15.5" tall.
I am assuming some kind of OME spring because of the yellow. I know nothing about them.
Lift springs? Or Heavy Duty springs?

These are the wheels i plan on running, i still need 4 more. I will try some 33x10.5s. Hopefully it works. If not, i have 3 of the 15x8s off my 85.

Leave the decals, IMO. I think they add a "stock" look to the truck.

I ran wheels like that on my old Ford, and had brake heating issues on long descents. I prefer wheels with holes in 'em, myself.

Took my 4runner out for the first time a couple weeks ago to explore stevens pass and go shooting. Did fine for a bone stock rig, but i didnt try anything to crazy, because i was alone except for my buddy riding shotgun.

We wandered across whats known as The Old Cascade Tunnel. At the time we didnt know that, and hiked in not knowing what was inside:spider:
Its a train tunnel from the early 1900s. 2.6 miles long. And in 1910 was the site of the deadliest avalanche in US history, killing 96 people from 2 trains. And was abandoned in 1929.

And installed those coils today. Sits at perfect stock height. Fixed the little bit of sag i had, and rides pretty much the same. Time to see how it does loaded up with gear:cool:

On the 28th i am going on the annual trip to Manastash with friends from my work. I will finally get to see my old 4runner in action with the SAS:naughty:
This is the reason for installing the coils. I will hopefully finish a couple other non essentials before the trip like a locker and a cb radio.

Wheeled Naches last weekend. Still bone stock. The 4runner did awesome, i made every thing i tried, which includes 676 at 4 in the morning, funny rocks, and moon rocks. Not once needed a tug or winch.

I was very suprised my stock rig made it so far. It was a good challenge with open diffs. I didnt get any body damage. Just the rear bumper, skidplate, t case crossmember, and the new exhaust i installed the day before leaving:p

Yeah i know i need a camera, the pics look like:toilet3:
