2jz gte in a first gen?

Would it fit? I have seen a first gen with a 1jz gte but not a 2jz. I can't imagine the size being much different. I have been able to find only a little information on 2jz/1jz swaps into 4runners. I found one guy that put a 2jz into a early 90s pickup. It was a tight fit, but it worked. Anyone had any experience with either engine?

I don't know much, but my assumption would be that it would be pretty extensive work to get it all to work. I want to see how tight of a fit a straight 6 is.
I think it would be a sweet setup though!

I don't have experience with this particular swap, but I've done a large V8 swap (350 Chevy), and the length of that was a problem--I can't imagine an engine with six cylinders (albeit somewhat smaller cyliinders) front to back being any better. I had to move the whole drivetrain backward about four inches, make a new crossmember mount, and resize the driveshafts, and I still couldn't fit a decent fan inside the engine compartment.

Yeah I figure the length is what will give me the most trouble. I really want a 2jz gte so I'll do whatever it takes to make it work.

Lots of people have put 7m engines in these runners. It's an inline 6 so I would think the 2jz engines aren't much longer if longer at all.

Yeah I looked into the 7mgte a bit, but the 2jz has 100 more horsepower stock with not much of a size difference like you said so I'd definitely go with the 2jz
