well i just moved to hawaii from LA. (which happens to be the mecca for our cars I personally beleive). Being that i have no friends or social life here i find myself tweakin out on this forum day and night (metaphorically). i've had 11 cars and im only 21..no i dont have a rich mommy and daddy i just manage to find some pretty good deals. Like this one...its my second 4runner i picked up almost 2 years ago for 6k with only 60k miles on it. Managed to sell the black one i owned within days of grabbing this one even though it had twice as many miles i still got back what i payed for this. i've owned countless different types of cars and my runners have been nothing but a dream. i love modying cars but im not on a big budget ...unemployment -_- so i spend the money i do have making sure i keep it flawlessly maintained. so as far as "mods" for me heres what i've done:
btw im at 91k now
just did timing belt, water pump (and coolant ofcourse), t-stat, drive belts
drain and fill tranny
painted grill
just did 5% tint all around and 50% on the windsheild "im not from here officer i didn't know ; )"
u-joints went out at 88k not really sure why..but managed to swap those before a catastrophe presented itself
plugs
cleaned throttle body
removed rear wiper arm (who uses that thing anyways??lol)
i don't see myself ever dishing out money for wheels so i just took spray paint to my stock ones
im runnin General Grabber at2's 265/70's
how could i forget?
15" kicker cvx
2 massive amps both over 2000w (can't remember the brand or specific rms)
crossover to adjust my boom boom the way i like it (mainly raggae)
alpine head unit
and 2 added 6x9's on the sides in cargo area
OE toyota speakers have been surprisingly good considering how much bass i've added
I do most of the work myself but im still VERY much into the begining of my career in automotive and love learning something new
The only problem i have with a car that runs so well is not having anything to do to it. (which imo is the best problem to have)
i would do a cheap spacer lift, but i made the mistake of buying tires BEFORE considering a lift....oh well its 2wd anyways so its not like that'll ever prove itself useful for me.
I've scanned just about every post/forum on DIY mods my eyes and brain can handle in the last couple days and just don't know where to start. I'm hoping some of you guys could point me in the direction of what you've found to be the most useful or fun mods you guys have done to your 4runners/tacos (relatively cheap)
i only have a pic from when i first got it, but i'll be sure to dig up some more recent ones...
did i mention my lovely girlfriend allowed me to pick out her first car?
