2nd Gen Body Lift Help

I know this has probably be beat to death, and im still searching this site (im a noob ) but i got a few Q's about doing a body Lift.

I dont want nothing huge, was thinking just an 1" or 2".

Is there anything i should look out for? Ive found a kit local with all the hardware and bolts and stuff, just wondering if ill be running into issues with steering, brake lines ect with either of those sizes?

Is it even worth doing a body lift? ive seen kits local for just over $100 and surely its gotta be money well spent?

be careful when removing the bolts if you break them off they snap at the body and will cause lots of problems.
also when doing a body lift all you shifting levers will have to be readjusted and or bent to work correctly again.
you may aslo have to lengthen brake lines and gas lines and grounding wires.
there is a great deal of work involved and if your body mounts are rusty you may wanna just not do it i have heard story's of rusty mounts that sent me into shock.
poly blocks also make for a rough ride. i never do body lifts anymore.

I would highly recommend you dig through 4Crawler's website--lots of great info on what's involved with body lifts, much more than most sites bother including about their products. Also, they have top-notch kits with many options. With a 1" kit, you don't have to change a lot of things outside of the lift itself--brake lines, shifters, steering, radiator mounting--those are only starting to get affected in the 2" range, and definitely at the 3" level. I did a 3" for my engine swap, and I needed to extend the clutch hose, steering, fuel fillers, and stretch out the brake line coils some. A 1" body lift combined with a moderate suspension lift is a good way to gain clearance for bigger tires without making any one area too stressed.

Thanks guys, yeah ive read a few horror stories, i got no rust on the 4x4, and the underneath is clean so removing the bolts "shouldnt" be a issue haha.

Think ill put the money else where for now, ball joint spacers, lifter rear springs ect.

I did a 3" BL on mine. Had to lenghten the brake lines by uncoiling them (Front). Added a longer Clutch line, Like buck said. Had to add 3" to both my shift levers. Oh and had to pull out my steering rod 1.5 ", Otherwise all other stuff to do it was included in my kit. ie: Bumper extensions (front only), Radiator drop bracket, and fuel filler neck extension. Note: A day after the lift, My intake hose broke. So watch out for this. The A/C line will strectch tought. I'm still waiting to see if it will break, so far its good. and lastly for your info I am running 33s and no rubbing with this lift. Hope this helps a little.

Read the 4crawler info until you know it by heart.

Don't be afraid of a proper BL, but I wouldn't go over 2" because 1) they don't look good and 2) they're more work to install.

BL's do have good uses, don't let anyone talk you out of it if you have a good reason for wanting it.

Thinking i may go a 1" body lift for a ease of install, and then a 2" suspension lift.

That setup should see me on 33"s for bush work surely?

3" should put you on 33's with little or no rubbing at full compression. The 1" BL should be nice and uncomplicated to install, as pretty much everything will give that much--plus, the gaps created won't be too noticeable in the fenderwells. While a body lift isn't too difficult to install, make sure you have a friend with you who can help watch for any unexpected snags. Also, a pile of wood scraps is handy, for below your jack for lift, and above for floor/fenderwell support when jacking.

i did a 1 inch bl and it made my life so much easier when replacing oil filters, getting the top 2 bell housing bolts, giving enough room to run 35's if i so choose in the future.... i love it! it def has plus sides to it!

I had a 1" 4crawler on my 4th gen and have a 1" 4ctawler bl on my 1st gen aswell. May aswell get the best you can, and Roger Brown has a lot of that
