2nd Gen dome light problems

Hey guys, I have a 95 SR5 I just picked up and it has a few issues to deal with but so far this one has me scratching my head, but maybe it's a common problem. The dome lights come on when the switch is turned to on so I know the bulbs are good. But when I put it to "door" they don't come on. However the lights in the front door panels do. All four doors turn on the door panel lights so that is telling me that the switches in the door jamb are functioning. But neither one of the dome lights come on when both are set to door. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance.

Had a similar problem in my '95…
The front dome assembly has tiny riveted contacts for the door/off/on switch… in mine the rivet holding the door contact came out resulting in a disconnect on that contact.
I tried to repair it but no luck… I plan on just getting a new assembly.

Yea a bad connection was my first thought. Just quite a coincidence that both of them are faulty in the door position but work in the on position. Guess I'll just toy with it and if that is the case I'll just order a couple. I know it seems like a petty problem but I go to work before it gets light and usually don't get home til after dark so it would be nice to have them working.

I have a somewhat similar problem. The dome light does come ON when the front doors are opened, but when the rear doors are open only the door panel lights come on.

As for the OP, you may need to clean the contacts on the switch. I have have to jiggle the switch sometimes to make the Door side come on, but only for the front doors.
