2nd Gen on the Rocks redux

If I did this right, here's a new video of the "Abomination" in action, this time from the vehicle's point of view. I hooked up a GoPro to the roof while trailrunning Jake, one of the tough Black Hills trails. Unfortunately, I got wrapped up in the driving and forgot to start it right away, so you get only a small portion of the drive, and then my multiple attempts to clear a mean double-ledge with mud-slicked tires--every time my front tires hit the second ledge, the rears would break loose. I'll go back when it's dry and kick its butt!

You can. You just can't bomb straight through it like Bucknut did, you'd have to pick your lines and maybe stack rocks, depending on how bad it gets.

I do go quite slow, just above idle, and still pick the best line I can, putting the taller stuff under the tires as much as possible. The neat thing, though, is with the torque now available, a quick goose of the throttle usually pops me right up on anything under 2'. On that ledge, I didn't really get on it until about the 4th attempt, hoping that might hop the rear tires over the last little bit--they were just too slick that day. The other one that tried it, towards the end of the vid, had a locker in the rear but open in front, and he couldn't get up on the first ledge. The breakover angle was so high, that was my driveshaft you hear scraping on the initial approach! I can't wait to go back and spank that obstacle (and then the rest of the trail).

We found a really good line over those ledges last weekend. People with out lockers on 33"s were making it up. Good lines make a helluva difference.
