2nd Gen rear sag fix???????

I have the original rear shocks and springs from my 2018 Off Road, and I am wondering if these will fit on the 95 rear setup. I do know the 95 currently has stock equipment and the shocks have a Toyota part number that is a couple of digits off from the 18 shocks (I don't have the numbers with me at the moment).

I did find a couple of posts on other forums that mentioned using FJ springs and shocks and that is was possible. After looking at the setup on the 95 and comparing to the 18 equipment, the shocks look like they should be plug and play, however, the springs from the 18 look considerably taller.

Does anyone know if this swap will work? Has anyone tried this yet?

definitely try it and see!

I know things like this work in the Jeep world (Rubicon monotubes on older cherokees etc) but I haven't heard too much about interchangeability this except the FJ80 rear coils.
 
I guess I've been called out....which means I will be attempting the install this weekend. Will post updates as work progresses.....
 
Sorry guys for the delay, finally got to the springs yesterday. The pics show that the springs are very similar, and appeared to be a plug and play option. However, when I installed the 2018 springs, I found that the bottom of the springs are different from stock. The bottom coil is wound tighter than the stock springs and therefore didn't fit into the spring perch on the axle. With the amount of fabrication that would be necessary, I am going with the Moog springs.

The shocks do bolt up in the factory location, but I may have some issues with the top isolator under the top nut. It appears that I may not have enough threads available to get the nut started. With that being said, I didn't proceed since I need to wait for the Moog springs.

Looks a lot better, may end up going with a spacer to get a little higher in the back, but this will do for now. The shocks off the 18 off road did fit with no clearance issues related to the isolators.

Looks good! Did you need a spring compression device or just a floor jack?
 
No compressor, floor jack on opposite side from where I am working, bottle jack to push the side I'm working on down just enough to free the spring from its perch.

That worked and I did the shocks at the same time. Sits way better and the little truck seems to turn, track, and generally just feels better, too.

What can be easily done up front other than a set of shocks? What are good options? I put a set of cheap KYB in back....
