2nd Gen Rear Tool Storage

i want to see yalls solution for rear storage. i know there is a ton of info on expeditionportal, but i would like to see some that are more geared for everyday use.

here is mine in the new-old 2nd gen t4r.

3/8" plywood
1x8 pine
turnbuckles and coated screws

the front has an open space for spare parts, axles and such. rear slide outs. no drawer slides, just wood on wood. still need to build another drawer for the other side. i "might" add sum cutting board strips later but not worried at the moment. the drawers are 31" deep. the space up front is 11" deep. i also reserved the triangular space just behind the seat. it is a perfect spot to hide a certain sumthin sumthin. :hunter: i will add some padding in that spot next.

That one is nice but it is too big for me. Plus he lost the use of his side storage. Looks like a well constructed unit though.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing about the side storage. I would like to keep my cubbyholes for misc stuff.

Here's what I came up with after a few days in the garage tinkering. I'm no carpenter, but this is a sturdy box made of beefy plywood, with MDF drawer fronts for a smooth finish, and 100# slides for the drawers. Slots for container storage, and still have access to the cubbyholes, too.

Thats nice! I like the fluid storage on the side.

I think im going to redo my top sheet so it goes out to the sidewalls and trim the ends so i still have the cubby storage. My friend that was helping me got ahold of a dovetail jig. We are going to build two new drawers using this method. Should make a purty and strong drawer.

I like how you used all the space at the front--mine just squares off from where the top meets the seats. The next time around I was thinking of incorporating something like those cargo area separators, the tube or wire styles, but turn them sideways and mount to the box sides--I could hang a shovel, jack, etc. inside without compromising too much rearward visibility (no one looks out the rear side windows anyway, and they could be tinted dark to keep out prying eyes).
