2nd gen troubles

I picked up a 92 t4r last July. Ran fine up until February when it started blowing coolant out of the exhaust pipe. After dragging my feet I finally got the head gaskets on and the top end back together, taking all of the egr off during the process. Now I'm having a few problems I can't seem to figure out. First is excessive fuel consumption, my exhaust burns my eyes it is so bad. Was wondering if it was from a connector that I can't find a home for. It's right next to the tps and above the injector rail. Any help would be much appreciated.

Not 100% sure but that looks to be the plug for the knock sensor. Look if it comes out from the loom in between the connectors for the injectors, if so that would be it. If memory serves me that plug looks too big to go to the miscellaneous coolant sensors on the very back of the block.

Hello,
This is the upper end of the Knock Sensor pigtail. It is an odd shaped plug and would be under the TB-

If not the Knock Sensor pigtail, it could go to the sensor located in the water outlet that's attached to the back of the intake manifold-

Can't help with the fuel problem, just recheck your vac lines and intake, maybe it is throwing a code that will point you in the right direction.

Best of Luck!

Re: gas consumption, when you changed your head gaskets, did you inspect the fuel injectors? If those guys are dirty or clogged, you could be getting lousy gas mileage. How did you set the timing? Other culprits would be vacuum leaks on the intake side. How do the plugs look? Are they all black and sooty?

Thanks for the quick replys!! My knock sensor, temp sensor are all plugged in. I set the timing the way the fsm said to. The injectors were a little rough but i will pull the plugs tonight

Yeah, see what Ryros92Runner said.

It goes down in there by the firewall.

Sorry for the crummy pics. Need I get more with a real camera? :thumb3:

I will double check those connections tonight. I do have a check engine light, I will run it soon. I put two 10k resistors in the old egr vsv plugs, the engine light may be from those.

Ha well I figured out that connector. It is the water temp sensor. I had the single wire ground shoved in that slot. It fits perfectly. Thank you fellas for helping me square that away haha
