2nd Row Cup Holder Mod for 3rd Gen

I put in a few USB outlets where the ashtray used to be in the 2nd row of my 98 toyota 4runner. The cup holder seems to be in the way now and won't quite open completely. I am thinking of removing it entirely. Has anyone done this and replaced it with something else? If so, did you install new cupholders and where. Any feedback greatly appreciated!
