2nd Treadwright failure in less than a month

So me, wife, brother and multiple friends have been running treadwrights for years. Its the only tires ive ran on my 4runner other than one set of Chinese 305s. Never had an issue.

Now my brother has had two of his 35s fail in about a month time. 1st time a tire developed volleyball sized bubble. Same thing this time but smaller bubble that ended up coming apart.

Needless to say. I think I'm done with them. Even if they are willing to keep sending him new tires. Maybe they had a bad batch.

I used to work for a crappy construction company that bought retreads... I had two blow up on me on the freeway, while going around 70! Even though I understand some retreads might be better than others, I would never trust or buy a retread after those experiences. From what I saw retreads when they fail become catastrophic really quickly, once any damage to the adhesive attaching the tread, the entire tread will quickly come flying off and the shaved down casing will fail. Its just not worth the gamble, especially because the aren't even that cheap.

This happened to a good buddy of mine with 35s on his Rubicon. Almost killed him and totalled his truck on the highway. he had the bubble too. not easy to get your money back from them either. I have had my Dura Tracs for twice as long and zero problems.
 
I'm not sure why this is taking so long, but I eagerly await seeing what [MENTION=115590]StreetCreeper[/MENTION] is going to photoshop onto that bald spot ...

First time we sent email and picture. They replied with a tracking number and new tire on the way. Not sure what they are saying now. These are are my brother's tires. I've ran three sets in a row with no issues for a good 6 years or more. Multiple high mileage trips.
 
There is something about a retreaded tire that just doesn't sit well with me.

Especially when I found brand new Falken Wildpeak AT3w 265/75/16 for 107 bucks a tire shipped.

I'd rather save my money elsewhere like cheap Chinese Ebay LBJ's.....:jk:
 
I understand some people who say, "well they warranty their stuff and send a new one out." but that's still a huge PITA when it happens. So unless they same-day it and pay to have someone drop off my wheel and tire to get mounted then its more running around. No thanks. I was seriously considering these for some dedicated mudders but it has me questioning now.
 
I think the best point made so far is that you can literally buy brand new tires for less than Treadwrights... A few years back, TW used to be a great deal, now I just don't see the point :/

Find me mud terrain 35s for less than 679.96 shipped.

Agreed not worth the savings if they are coming apart though. I wheel the shit out of mine at 12psi and they are fine.
 
yeah I don't care who's redoing them I just simply don't trust retreads.
Even if it was weekend only vehicle, I transport waaaay too many important things - myself included - to trust them.
