2nd Vehicle

For those single folks on the board and who have a second vehicle how do you justify having a second vehicle. I've been considering getting one but the math just doesn't add up on getting one.

Well mines gonna be my son's if he can keep his grades up because of ins. , but I like having a car for dates , driving fast Lexus Is300 pimping a liitle bit ! Great road car for shorty trips to Kali , Az , Ut. on golf trips , basically 2 seater . I don't know if that's justification ?

First $ math and car guys are never great friends. Second if your single you don't have to justify it to anyone.

I do remember back in the day Turbo Magazine had and article that said you should have:

Daily driver
Race Car
weekend toy
luxury cruiser
and a tow rig

That will be slightly different for someone that is more towards the off road side of the spectrum, but the point was to have different vehicles that excel at different things. My two running vehicles are my 2000 4Runner and 2003 MR2 Spyder. Two vastly different vehicles which I own and choose to drive at a given time for very different reasons.

I should also mention that I am a terrible influence when it comes to car buying decisions and I currently have 4 of my own, + the g/fs one in this household, which is still better than the 8 at a time that I once had.

My 4Runner is everything but a race car. I don't need to tow either.

We must play differently ... I like to be able to push my weekend vehicle pretty hard and know if something does break that I have another vehicle to get me to work on Monday. It also comes in handy when you need to do major maintenance allowing you to take your time.

Im single but dont have a second car yet. As already stated, I dont have to justify it to anyone.
I am from time to time, getting tired of driving a lifted, heavy, slow, gas sucking suv just to grab something to eat.
Having a second car would be sooo nice, for one, it will keep the miles and wear off the 4runner, and getting a 2010+ Infiniti G37 Vert would be lots of fun when its not snowing lol
So I dont care what others think, I dont have to ask permission from anyone if I can, get another car, I will get the G37 Vert, will be nice to a have a nice luxury sports convertable and the 4runner for playing in the mountains :lookout:

very well put,, just another benefit, of having two cars :reddance:

For me, it's easy. I'm married but the same rules apply. I have my 4runner that is my weekend toy and sometimes drive to work vehicle when I wanna drive something cool. But for my DD I have my 2010 tundra that is also my tow vehicle, put stuff in the bed for work vehicle, etc.

I have my hardcore off-roader in my Subaru Outback...my radically cool family car in my Sienna minivan...and my weekend racecar in my Prius with 17" rims baby! What more does anyone want?! I am living a dream! :lookout:

I'm married and I have 3 vehicles. Ha Ha I still don't have to justify my cars to anyone. My wife knew I was a car guy from the day we met.

I have my 2002 4 Runner which is my daily driver. It's also the tow rig for my 14' bass boat. I also have my restored 68 Firebird which is my weekend cruiser, and I still have my 94 Wrangler. When I bought my 4 Runner I held onto the Wrangler. It now stays up at my vacation home in the Pocono Mts. I use it up there in the summer as a fun cruiser. Someday the Wrangler will go to my son as he loves riding in it with the top down and there's also no frigging way he's getting my Firebird.

I don't have to jusity to anyone but myself and my bank account :yo:. I know the pro's and con's it just trying to decide if I make the jump or not.

I have been doing the 2 vehicle thing for almost a year now. I made a bad decision or let us say the wrong one with my first Daily. Now I am in the right daily. The 4Runner doesn't have to work as hard and with all the added weight I like to save it for playing now or trips to the snow. Girlfriend loves the 4Runner but she knows its my money anyways.
