2UZ swap?

So I have started looking to get some more power out of my 4Runner because my v6 just is not cutting it anymore. Before everyone says just sell it and buy a v8, I have too much money in this one already and I would rather not take everything off and swap it to a new platform. So I am wondering if anyone has swapped a 2UZ into their 4Runner

Get a supercharger for your V6. It will probably end up being easier and less expensive than swapping in a V8. Or just pull your parts off and purchase a V8 4Runner.

If you're really REALLY ambitious, purchase a V8 4Runner, park it next to your V6 one, and spend a few weeks swapping over all of the necessary parts. There's a reason that nobody does this.

Nobody that I have seen has done it. And these threads always end up with comments saying that you'll need to buy an entire V8 donor vehicle to swap the motor and all the electronics/ecus from. This would be the easiest way IMO.

So not at all worth your time considering the V8 really isn't any faster, I've raced my brother multiple times with his V6 FJ.

Supercharger and other performance mods on the V6 if you need more speed gets my vote.

Just thinking out loud but I think you need to determine if the main ECU for the engine also controls the 4wd system. Since the V6 has the part time system with the 4wd High/Low/2wd switch on the dash and the V8 has just the 4wd High/Low switch, I would want to know if it interfaces with the main ECU. If it's the main ECU and a 4wd ECU (hopefully the same part number for both V6/V8) then I would think all you need to do is swap the engine, front 4wd system/diff, 4wd ECU and main ECU, the 4wd switch on the dash and possibly the gauge cluster for the tach to work.

I have seen someone put a 2uz into a 3rd gen. Never a 4th gen. You will have to change the entire wiring harness, trans, front differential, front driveline, rear driveline, front axle, 4wd ECU and exhaust.

What would be super cool is to sell your v6, get a 2wd v8, Install superduty axles with twin lockers and install a manual transfer case with 4.7 gears. I have seen at least 4 4th gens around me with that setup and it seems to work awesome off road. I also recall the guys who did it seemed to think that they saved a ton of money by not having to mess with the computer controlled 4wd system.
