ill try and explain parts of it, now i havent seen it first hand, and im only relaying information, so i may be a little off in my information, if anyone else has more deeper knowledge, do step in.

tail housing off and you can see the sensor on the right

sensor plugged in, well yeah its way far back

here is the problem, those 5 or so teeth on the gear ring before the tail shaft is what the sensor is supposed to read, see how far the sensor is from that? thats what is delaying this, and no way in hell i would have attempted this install as it is more fab work then im capable of.

this is Jamie (SAR_Squids) tacoma shaft and adapter

up above that is mine.

BIGGGGGGG NOTE!!!

Both Jim at Inchworm, and Yuri (spelling) and Oleg at Irbis offroad are going out of there way to get this right and id like to make sure they are getting recognized for this outstanding work, Im over here sitting on ice scared as hell that it might not even work and id sell and trade in or something of that sort.

ill keep everyone informed.

to be done... install case, freeze plug the first adapter where the old sensor went, then fix shifters and put in the crossmember.

updated pics, i went down to get an 87 5spd 4runner for a loaner (im not a good manual driver) figuring it out though, and whats up with first gear in the 1rst gens? its like you have to go around some freakin J/L or something, stalled out at two redlights on prospect due to starting out in 3rd gear.

Wow, looks like a lot of work... Just curious, why didn't you go a head and just do a solid axle? Kudos to you for researching and actually undertaking this task!! :bigok:

I would post this on Yotatech

its been posted on ttora, yotatech, ultimateyota.

im pretty sure i know that.

lets see SAS hmmm

well with this truck done, ill be able to beat some of those shitty SAS trucks on the trail anyways.

here is the thing, if i SASed, im not doing a dana44, ill do diamond axles with landcruiser fj80 centers, inners and outers and go with 40 or 42" iroks.

but im not.

will be front and rear locked with about a 222:1 crawlratio when im done.

How much is the conversion costing you w/ parts and labor? That's something I'd eventually like to do to my truck.

what year truck do you have?

you could just get a tranny from that year and chain drive transfercase, fab up a crossmember and front end and be done in the area of 1500 to 2000

right now im in deep in parts about 3500, with about another 600 or so in labor about to show up, then i still need to get the front diff and front driveshaft, i already have my cvs, hubs and spindles /new brake dust sheilds.

Thanks for the info. Mine's a 99. I also heard somewhere that the 4wd's are built with a stronger chassis? Would I need any reinforcements to support the new drivetrain?

only in the older 4runners, our 4runners are the same frame, minus the 4wd tranny and front end components.

as you can see my front stock crossmember was cut out so that this new thick crossmember could be put in place, it looks like he took out my second cat converter and is going to relocate that higher. i wish hed take it out and i just have one cat, might get better mileage.

stupid cali truck with its dual converters.

sounds like it'll be fun to drive when you get done, just curious again, will it still be your daily driver?

yeah its a dd still, wil be mostly.

yeah im a crazy mofo, but at least ill be able to hang with the hardcore rigs.

with the single case ill have a 90:1 crawlratio, if i get a front reduction box, 200:1

cant freakin wait to test it out.

will you still be able to run highway speeds without jepoardizing parts in the driveline? sorry for all ht questions but it seems that you'd done a ton of research... It'll deff. be a beast off road...

new case doesnt affect my 2wd at all, its just 2.2 times lower then a stock case, so its essentially dual 2.28 cases. ill get another 2.28 case to run a 2.28 with a 5:1 behind it and get upwards of 230:1 ratio.

im not SASing anytime soon though. not until i get funds for diamond axles and 40 or 42s.
