2WD vs 4WD for normal use

T4R newbie here, looking for some advice. Just purchased an 08 T4R SR5 V6 with 100k on it. Seems to have been a soccer-mom vehicle as it is in very good shape and appears to have been well maintained. I'm changing all filters, spark plugs, driveline fluids and the water pump (slight weeping evidence from seal). My one concern is when I bought the vehicle it was in 4H, and I am concerned yhe previous owner treated it like an AWD vehicle, not a 4WD vehicle and it may have been driven all or most of the time in 4H, instead of 2H. No way to tell, of course, but is there anything to be concerned about with the Toyota 4WD system being used in 4H when road conditions don't require it?

I'd imagine as long as the center diff wasn't locked, it's fine. If you bought it from a dealer, I'd ignore the fact that it was in 4H when you picked it up. Someone may have been testing it out that looked at it before you.

Other than that, does 4LO and the center diff lock as they should? If so, I probably wouldn't worry.

All 4th gens have a center differential which allows the front and rear driveshafts to turn at different speeds (unlike most other 4WD trucks), so like the poster above said; unless the center diff was locked, theres absolutely nothing to worry about.

This.. The V8s are in full time 4WD mode all the time..
